Sorry if this has already been covered in another thread - didn't see it anywhere though.

I'm about to buy my first handgun :D, and after much (hands on) research, I've narrowed the field to the CZ and Baby Eagle. I'm happy with the feel and accuracy on both of them. From what I gather the Baby is basically a clone of the CZ? So which one is better in terms of maintenance, parts, etc? Anything else I should know about either of them?

Thanks for the feedback.

I held them both, would buy the CZ over the Baby Eagle even if 2x cost. Found CZ so much easier to manipulate / far better ergonomics. May not directly answer question in terms of maintenance / parts but difference in how worked for me sufficient to overcome any difference in maintenance. Furthermore, maintenance / parts not an issue with CZ regardless (could comment about how take down requires strong hands to push pin through or a tool and need to allign marks but really not an issue). Bias note - I own the CZ SP01.

Depends on what you are gonna use it for; just plinking or you'd like to shoot in IPSC.
Shadow is a better gun in my book for competitive shooting and there are parts (diff strengh recoil springs, hammer, sights, main springs etc.) and accessories available for it. It comes with extra recoil spring and competition sights. Internals are a bit different from regular SP-01 and a better trigger.

The Armalite AR-24 might be another consideration as well. It's another clone of the CZ-75. It's received some very good reviews. Worth a look anyways. CZ makes a good product. I like both the Baby eagle and the CZ but would buy the CZ.

A consideration is that it's easier to buy parts and accessories for the CZ. Don't get me wrong the BE I owned had a very sweet out of box trigger and was very accurate. Why buy a clone when you can have the original???

Baby Eagle was my first gun I loved it UNTIL it broke after about 500 rounds. Sent it off to Magnum Research for repair. For two months they said they didnt receive it until I was able to prove they had it. Then when they finally say they had it 2 months after they did receive it now they say they are waiting on parts. I am still waiting on my pistol to be returned and it's been with them since middle of June. As soon as I get it back its going up for sale. Spend your money on a pistol with decent support and the Baby Eagle isnt one of them IMO.

The CZ is one of the best pistols made (according to almost anyone who's ever owned one, me included) The Baby Eagle is a copy of it (not a great one either). Get the real thing.

I've shot both (recently, this weekend recently), Shadow is by far the better choice. The Baby Eagle is more of a novelty item to me even though it is a good pistol.

I own the Baby Eagle and to my knowladge, have never handled or shot a CZ.

My Baby Eagle is a bad ass gun. Built like a tank, great sights, I really have nothing to complain about after 3-4 hundred rounds. Its my second favorite gun after my XD, and well ahead of my 229 and G21, in that order.

I have two CZ's, a Shadow and a CZ-75 and love them both. The Shadow has one of the best triggers I have ever tried. I think you have a very easy decision to make.:p

If its after the XD, 229, and G21 Would that not be fourth or least favourite?

I recently recommended a CZ75SA to a friend, and now I'm kicking myself for not having one. That single action trigger is awesome!

Great since I ordered one that should be home in a couple of weeks. Used to have a CZ 85 Combat and really loved it. Can't wait to get my Shadow...:dancingbanana:
