Anybody here have an opportunity to compare the older cz shadow vs the shadow 2? Quite a big price difference. I had a chance to handle the shadow 2 and dry fire it. The trigger was quite nice compared to my p226 mk25. I liked it a lot. Just wondering how much better it is over the original. I don't shoot competitively. Just target shoot for fun. I think one of these might be my next purchase. Any opinions?

To be honest if you're not a competitive shooter the standard shadow is fantastic.

The shadows have come down like 25% since the shadow 2 came out. Take that as you'd like.

That was exactly what I was hoping for. But that trigger on the shadow 2 was nice. I guess I'll see if I can get a closer look an original.

What he said^^^^

The shadow 2 is directed toward the competitive shooter. It was refined to meet those demands. The regular shadow is about $400 cheaper, & it will shoot right along side the shadow 2.. The shadow 2 in experienced hands will do it faster!

I hate everything they changed in the Shadow 2. It's bloody sharp for one, the slide is tapered and the serrations and deep and sharp. It's also unnaturally porky and wide. I bought a Shadow 1 last night.

The trigger on the 01 is just as nice. One of the lightest out of the box single action pull you'll see out of a regular production pistol.
My buddy just picked one up and we gave it a go last week. He was doing accidental double taps due to the lightness. His prior gun was a M&P9 so you can forgive his " mistake"!

As everyone said, if you're not a serious competitor ( and even if you are!), the SP-01 will work very well. The money you save over the 02 can go to ammo, mags and/or gear.

The -01 is a proven winner on all the circuits. It isn't immediately obsolete just because CZ improved on some design features.

I bought a Shadow2, I only had the chance to try to shoot 2 mags out of an original model at the range. The guy next to me was curious about mine, so we swapped for a few mags. After shooting his, no mods just well broken in, I got to say that I really think the original is a better choice for most ppl. The improvements of the new one are just not worth the extra $ in my book. More so since the original had a price drop. That said, both are fantastic guns and buying either will get you a great and solid firearm.

The grip is more aggressive, it weighs a little more, and it looks better. I can't comment on the trigger. The gun I shoot the most has an 8 lb trigger, so everything feels light compared to that.

Shoot them side x side with equally good triggers and only the price difference will make you choose the reg shadow. My shadow has a great trigger but every time I shoot an S2 it confirms that I want one.

buy a used Shadow 1 that first dude has put upgrades into, and use leftover money to buy mags. The biggest difference for me was the grip...S2 much harder and tad wider for my liking, and my used S1 had custom grips already. Beginning with only 3 mags is the biggest problem!

From what i have read, 10,000 rds thru these pistols is just the beginning and maintenance seems diy.

I have the SP-01 "Canadian Edition" and my friend has the S2.My trigger is a bit better but his sits in the hand better.Apples and oranges. Both nice guns take your pick.I'm partial to mine due to the fact I get attached to my guns.Been thru good times and bad together.Does that make any sense. The good times are alot more plentiful so I keep what I have.Been married for 32 years also so I guess she's a keeper too.:adult:

Personally, I think the Shadow 1 looks better. But that's me.
The Shadow 2 is really IPSC oriented. If only casual target shooting, I would get the Shadow 1.

Eh I'm a competitive shooter and I just bought a Cz custom shadow just for USPSA. Plenty awesome for me, way more accurate than I am.

I actually prefer the shadow 1 as the shadow 2 feels too big in my hands.

X2. What frigpig said.

Have both. Love both! They are both a lot of gun for the money! But if you don't shoot competitively I'd recommend the Shadow over the S2. And put the money saved in the Shadow towards ammo. And if you ever do decide to shoot competitively, the Shadow will take you a long way along that road.

I'd like to know where people are seeing 25% price drops on original shadows, I bought mine last March and haven't seen them priced even at what I paid. I would buy another as a spare in a heart beat for the right price.

fridge, my old man has a Shadow Line to sell.

My thought, after sighting in and shooting my Shadow 2 in one IPSC match, is that the Shadow 1 is better value. A Shadow 1 with Pre-B disconnector has a better trigger than the 2.

I will agree with people saying the serrations are too sharp on the 2. About 3/4 through the match I actually slightly cut my thumb on the serrations and the rest of the match I was very deliberate while racking because it hurt. In the heat of a stage sharp is good, but I'm a little concerned that I'll get outdoors once proper spring comes, trying to practice, and be unable to do a full 200-400 round practice session for this reason.
