CZ Shadow vs Shadow 2

eddiepnewman, it seems like you have your answer. The Shadow is a great gun. Mine has a few mods done to it to make it even sweeter. If I ever think I need a "better" gun to shoot better, all I need to do is hand my Shadow to a shooter like Slavex and it'll confirm it's me that sucks, not the gun. lol!

Eh I'm a competitive shooter and I just bought a Cz custom shadow just for USPSA. Plenty awesome for me, way more accurate than I am.

I actually prefer the shadow 1 as the shadow 2 feels too big in my hands.

How did that new optic work for you? Thanks for letting me try it last Wed. I may need something like that as I get more blind. lol!

No issues at all, other than losing the dot on the classifier and picking up a Mike. I'm at around 450 rounds thru it all is well.

I have no interest in shooting a Shadow 2

Because I might end up buying one

I have an 85 Combat SAO with the competition hammer, an SP-01 SAO, and when Bullseye got in reasonably priced 75 Shadowlines last year I had to jump, because I never did like the railed look or bulk.

all 3 are keepers.

Strange, several guys I know replaced the grips on their shadow 2 because it was too small in their hands compared to their shadow1.

I have the thin Czc aluminum grips on my shadow. It's basically perfect size for my size medium hands. The stock s2 grips are way thicker. I guess the higher cut back strap puts my thumb out of position. It doesn't fit as nicely in my hand, plus it's damn sharp. I have soft office hands lol.

Bummer about the Mike on the classifier. The one stage where you really didn't want it. :( I'm sure you'll get used to the optic soon enough. You've certainly got me thinking much more about it! :)

If your going to shoot south of the border I definitely would haha. Nothing is funner than having unlimited capacity magazines (141.5mm length) while running and gunning.

I probably should have practiced on Saturday as the stages were setup minus targets. Oh well, luckily I got 5 more classifiers to shoot before I'm classed I'll be happy with a mid C.

For those who shoot USPSA, apparently the Shadow 2 is NOT on their Production Division gun list. I heard today that a Canadian shooting USPSA Area 2 last weekend got bumped to Open for that reason.

That is correct and a poor choice if someone traveled to a major match and decided to use a gun not on the list. That is the only reason I still have my original Shadow is I occasionally shoot USPSA and I suspect the Shadow 2 won't make the production gun list for several more months yet.

Good feedback everyone. Much appreciated. I started out expecting everyone to tell me to pony up for the s2. Glad I got good advice from qualified people. I'm getting the original.

I would suggest getting the Shadow 2....USPSA will have it on their Production list pretty quickly now that they are becoming readily available to US shooters, that is the only reason it is not on there yet

They need to have 2000 units sold in USA. Which isn't the case yet, also it needs to have a sample sent to the nroi for inspection as well.

I've seen this posted elsewhere and pretty much thought it was pointed out that they needed 2,000 sold period, not necessarily in the USA. At Shot when USPSA was asked in the comments of this video ( https://www.facebook.com/pg/USPracticalShootingAssn/videos/?ref=page_internal )stated they were just waiting for the return of forms and production numbers from CZ. Matt Hopkins from CZ USA has also stated he is planning to shoot it this year which tells me it will be on the list long before 2,000 units make it to market in the USA.

I think I am in the same boat as I have been looking at both. I will be getting the original too.

If you guys are anywhere near Semiahmoo Fish & Game Club, (in Surrey, BC), on Wed nights, drop me a line. I'm there most Wed nights, (including tonight), and you're welcome to try my old Shadow. It has been tweaked, so it's like a Shadow 1.5 lol! One of our regulars has a Shadow 2 and I'm sure he'll let you shoot it. Other members have Shadows from stock to modded. Seriously though, you will be well served with the original Shadow. The Shadow 2 has some great engineering in it that boosts the price, but it is geared to the competitive shooter. Serious IPSC guys have a backup gun anyhow, so if you buy the old Shadow and get into IPSC down the road, then it can be a backup gun if you decide to buy a Shadow 2 in the future. This gun will never be wasted money.
