A lot of people are looking at the Tanfoglio Stock as the comparative gun with the CZ SP-01 for IPSC Production division.

That's not a proper comparison, as the Stock comes Hardchromed, with a bull barrel, polygonal rifling, melted in adjustable sights, and a couple of hard chromed magazines, a larger mag release, etc. It's a serious top of the line gun.

A better comparison would be the Tanfoglio "L" model. This gun has a suggested retail of $910. (Dealers can sell for less).

Barrel:121mm barrel, (SP01 is 112mm)

Weight: 1075 grams (SP-01 1085 grams)

Sight Radius: 175mm (SP-01 - 152mm)

Sights: Melted adjustable (SP-01 - Fixed)

Mag Release width: 8mm, and switchable for lefties (SP-01 - 7.3mm)

Safety: Extended - Rest your thumb on it and ride high like on a 1911 - allows better recoil control. (SP-01 - Not Extended)

Fiber Optic Sights: Optional - SRP $45.54 in stock in Canada (Optional - SP-01 - $30 US order from USA)

Magazines: SRP $33.77 Canadian (and Extension Basepads are legal in production) (SP-01 - Dealer price is more than this...)

IDPA USA Approved.

And of course, pictures:

Ok, two questions:

a) how's the trigger reset on the Stock compared to the CZ (I'm guessing the trigger mechanism on the SP01 is the same as on my 85C, so that's my yard stick) or the Glock (another one I have and know)?

b) mags - are they build to be 10 rounders, and are a ##### to lock in when full (like the Glock factory 10 rounders, for example) or are they higher capacity, just blocked to something like 10.5 rounds, and slide in nice and ease (or something in the middle, haha)?

Thanks

I had to return the CZ I was working on yesterday to the customer, so my guinea pig is gone. The only Glock I have here is heavily modified - but I'll get a standard one later today and do some measurements and add them here later. Pics are below.

10 rounders are on the way. Tanfoglio has assured me they are easy to insert with a full 10 rounds - I specifically asked this. I have also seen 10 rounders for the Eric Grauffel gun and they are done perfectly.
Right now, I'm selling pinned full capacity mags which are at 10.5, but it's a PITA for me to pin them, so once they are gone, it's all 10 rounders.

And the pics (Including the Fiber Optic you asked for...)

thanks! re trigger reset, what I was hoping for was an estimate of how far the trigger has to go, from the rear-most position, to 'reset'.... Hey, if you can measure that, great, if not, relative to one of the other guns(like the G17) would be great... Thanks again.

Gotcha - Trigger reset in SA mode is 3.5 mm. The glock 17 that I measured is 2.3mm.

Another "just out of curiosity" question: how much does the Stock model weigh (I'm guessing the standard way is to measure them empty)?

Thanks!

I'm out of Stocks right now, (More early June) but I remember putting one on the scale and seeing it as around 1040 grams. That was the wood grips. The aluminum ones would be the same and the rubbers a bit more. It's shorter than the "L", but it has that bull barrel to add weight.

I see that the mag release can be switched for lefties, but does the L model have an ambi safety and slide release too? Does the SP-01 have ambi controls?

The Fiber Optic sight option is only for the front.
Mag Base pads will probably be in the $19 range for aluminum and less than 10 for the plastic ones. (I'm waiting for the order to come in to confirm pricing.)

Mags and base pads

Since the CZ75 mags fit in this gun, will the TF mags fit in the CZ? Also, will the basepads fit on my CZ75 mags?

Yes, TF mags work in CZs. I don't know if the base pads will fit your mags - definitely not the 10 rounders with the plastic bases.

IPSC Production division speaking, you would not be permitted to use CZ mags with TF base pads, as CZ mags don't come that way.
