I am planning on buying the latest generation version and share it with my wife in IPSIC. Can you please suggest what upgrades and in what order and approx. cost can I expect to get done to the unit to perform at its best. We are not looking to do this for winning rather to enjoy it's performance. Thanks
CZ SP-01 Shadow Mods Query?

The Shadow comes with a flat rear mag well plate. The mags fall out very nicely all by themselves.
A magwell added to the base will make the gun too big for IPSC Production so if you and your wife think that they may try it at some point then forget it.
Aluminium grips are nice if your wife has fairly small hands as they make the gun a trifle more skinny so it fits folks with daintier hands.
Again, with a switch to a 13 lb mainspring it already brings the gun down to hellishly close to the IPSC trigger pull minimums. A competition hammer would likely take it down too far and put you below the 5lb minimum for the first DA trigger pull in Production.
I have no idea what grinding the slide stop does other than maybe altering the angle of the hold you can get it to where slamming a mag into place will bump the slide to close so you don't need to rack the slide after a slidelock reload. Another option for competition that could come in handy at some time.
So.... as folks that are just starting out where does this leave you? Simple, just go out and get to know the gun. It gets smoother after a few hundred rounds all on it's own. Although the 13lb mainspring IS a nice upgrade. As for the rest other than maybe doing the slide lock mod, if that is really what it is, there's nothing in the rest of that list that you can do for Production without making the trigger too light or the gun not fit the box or in some other way bump you to Standard.

kudos to you on selecting in my opinion one of the finest production 9mm semi-auto pistols ever made...that grip, fiber sights, the reliability, that low bore axis, not to mention the heft of the gun - feels like your shooting .22 rather than 9mm.
i've personally put around 10,000+ rounds through my shadow and i can literally count on one hand the number of FTF or FTE that have occured. it goes with me to every outing and is what i shoot in IPSC
couple all that with a lighter 13lb mainspring for a killer double action pull, oh man...as you can tell i'm holding mine as i speak
there are a bunch of people that run an 11lb mainspring for a super light pull but thats too light in my opinion...however it may fail to ignite some harder primers if you shoot all different brands of ammo...
i'd maybe swap all the magazines over to tanfoglio magazines as they are full metal bodies pinned to 10 rounds and the cz ones that come with the pistol have these hollow plastic bases that i'm not too find of (for quick reloading under stress of competition of course).

The combination of a 13lb mainspring and competition hammer do not result in a sub 5lb DA trigger; my gun passed without issue at BC Provincials, as did countless others with likely identical set-up's. I've also done a fair bit of smoothing and polishing on the trigger bar and hammer strut, so if anything my trigger is lighter than it would be by just dropping in the parts.
Slavex has an 11lb mainspring in one of his guns, and I'm pretty sure it's still a production-legal pull as well.

I went with a 13lb mainspring, and then cut 2 coils off. My DA is 5.25lbs, SA is 2.75. I also installed a longer firing pin to take care of light strikes. I took the gun to Gunnar at Armco and asked him whether or not he could improve the trigger with one of his $100 trigger jobs, and after trying it he said he might be able to improve the DA a tad, but that after a few thousand rounds and the changes I'd made, he really didn't see any room for significant improvement.
I should point out that I don't do IPSC/IDPA, just target practice at 50m.
I run a factory CZ 11lb mainspring in my gun with a competition hammer and easily make the 5lb trigger pull test. unfortunately CZ doesn't seem to be sending out anymore of those springs at the moment. I'm trying to source a few hundred of them, but it's like hitting a brick wall repeatedly.
