CZ SP-01 Shadow questions.

I'm curious if the SP-01 Shadow has a decocker? I tried a SP-01 Tactical today and was extremely impressed. I'm wondering if the fibre optic front sight and Novak style rear sights are worth the extra cash or if I should keep my "sights" on a SP-01 Tactical?

I just bought a cz sp01 shadow (it came in the mail yesterday and im heading to the range after work today). The reason i chose the shadow was not because of the sight. I originally wanted the tactical version like yourself for the tritium night sights and the decocker. There is no decocker on the shadow. It has the traditional manual safety and to decock, you have to let the hammer down as you pull the trigger.

I chose the shadow because the trigger is lighter and as much as i love tritium, the fiber optic front sights does make sight acquisition very easy. Essentially, the shadow is a gunsmithed version of the sp01. The trigger is probably 2 lbs or less in SA.

The difference in price is 30 bucks or so and a trigger job will be more than that so don't base your decision on the sights.
 
The SP01 also has a tuned trigger and a different guide rod (thicker plastic rod with a coiled spring vs a flat spring). Other than that they are exactly the same and accuracy wise there is no difference.

Thanks for the quick responses guys! With the shadow, can you not put the safety on and pull the trigger? I can't do this with my Taurus PT92 as it stops trigger movement completely which is what makes my Taurus inconvenient for IPSC.

Also, I'm not sure if I'm fond of the Novak rear sights, can you change them on the Shadow?
 
Personally, I'd like to try out a Tactical. Tried a Shadow and loved it but...
The dropping the hammer thing I always kinda wondered about until I had to DQ a shooter for an AD while doing it. To much oil and "bang", he was done.
The decocker "may" be a better way to go...
But I really like the FO sight, and the Shadow does have a sweet trigger. My understanding was the decocker adds weight to the pieces that make it go bang so the decocker trigger could never be as sweet as a SA/CZ with out the decocker.

nope, ytou can't pull the trigger with the safety on
 
Thanks guys, thats it then, I'm going with the Tactical and will simply install a Fibre Optic front sight after I receive it. I'm not a great fan of the Novak's anyway so I'm sure I'll be happy with the Tactical. I just need to find a gunsmith confident with doing trigger jobs on a CZ decocker model.
 
It's not the sights that makes Shadow so much better, it's absence of Firing Pin Block, better trigger and a bit of tweaking at the factory.

I just tried my new Shadow tonight (got it late last week), compared it to Tactical and wanna tell you: if you really like decocker, go for Tactical, make sure there is no slop between frame and slide, get trigger job done and enjoy a very nice and accurate gun.

If you plan on competing with a gun in say Production Div., as opposed to mostly recreational shooting at a range - go with the Shadow, you won't regret it.

Simply put: Shadow if competing; Tactical otherwise.
 
I do plan on competing but I'm not comfortable with manually lowering the hammer into double action which I will need to do regularily for IPSC.
 
I've never had a problem dropping the hammer on my Shadow. Left index finger between hammer and slide. Pull the trigger. Done. Or you could leave it cocked and put the saftey on (it's ambi) like I do with my 1911.

BTW, that trigger is to die for. And I thought my Sig P220 Tactical had a fine trigger. This Shadow is outstanding, the trigger is almost too smooth and light to the point where I actually have to be a little extra carefull with it.
 
The SPO-1 Shadow, with the right factory parts, can be shot in IDPA SSP and ESP. The CZ US Custom Shop gun is listed at 2.4 lbs which makes weight for SSP. IF it qualifies for SSP it can also be shot in ESP. If it doesn't make weight for SSP it cannot be shot in ESP due to the full length dust cover.

I am not sure what the stock "Shadow" weighs in at but I am sure somebody will jump in and let us know.

Shadow Holster?

Just got my Shadow from Wolverine (awsome place to buy from). I bought a Blade Tech for a CZ-75, only to discover it won't fit. Need to have the CZ-75B holster. May take a while to get, so what other brand of Kydex holster will work.

I get the sense that some gunsmiths don't enjoy working on the CZ decocker versions. After having a broken spring replaced on my 75BD I was told by my gunsmith that he never wanted to see my gun again. :)

You need SP-01 holster!!!!
