I just purchased a cz shadow 1. The gun fits my hands like a glove and I really like the sights. The issue I have is the take up on the DA trigger. It seems to pull a long ways before you feel it tighten up and get ready to break. What's the best way to fix this while keeping the gun IDPA production legal?

Is your CZ double action only? I carry mine condition one at the firing line and only use the double action if i have a light hammer strike because thats faster than thumbing the hammer.

Switch to the 13lb mainspring and the 11lb recoil spring. Wolverine, Select Shooting Supplies, Dlask Arms, Tenda, Firearms Outlet Canada have all carried them at one point or another, so they should not be too hard to find. The springs are a good start, hth.

Will that help with the take up on the DA trigger or just make the DA trigger pull lighter?

It will lighten up the DA pull. Nothing can be done about the length of trigger pull. It's only the first shot, most of us have trained to manage it.

None of the advice in this thread will shorten the DA throw, a lot of it will lighten the pull. I have zero knowledge of IDPA rules as far as trigger upgrades but both CZ Custom and Cajun Gun Works sell reach reduction or short trigger kits. The reality is just learn to grip it and rip through the stroke. After a few weeks of training you likely won't even notice that DA pull.
