I got my Shadow a couple years ago and have shot about 35 000 rounds through it. I've replaced the slide stop a couple times after breaking them, as well as the recoil spring and the guide rod. I was talking to a gunsmith I know and he said my round count is getting rather high and I should consider replacing it soon (he did NOT inspect the pistol). My guns not as pretty as it once was but it's very reliable and still shoots a nice group, I'm not to concerned about how it looks.

So is my gun barely broken in or getting long in the teeth? I see no real reason to replace it but I guess I wouldn't mind a spare Shadow in case it ever breaks and I'm unable to fix it at a match.Otherwise I'm very happy to just keep shooting it as long as it's in serviceable condition. I'm not someone who cares to own many guns, I just enjoy shooting.

How long is my Shadow likely to last CZ users?

Mine is at 60+ K and still going strong. Thinking of getting a backup Shadow this or next year.

I know that Angus replaces his at about 100k, whole gun.

CZ themselves claim that the service life of the aluminum frame P-01 will go at least 30,000 rounds. Yours is a steel framed gun so I'd imagine it would go for longer.

The main thing is to keep an eye on is the lugs on the barrel and slide, make sure there nice and square. Inspect the slide and frame for cracks.

If all looks good and accuracy is good, keep on blasting.

Its a good habit to replace recoil springs at about 6000 rounds and slide stops usually at the 10000 mark.

I look at guns as just another tool. They don't last forever. Yours doesn't owe you anything. It's also not worthless. In your shoes I'd be planning to replace it. If you stick with CZ, there's no reason not to keep the old one in rotation. I just wouldn't lose part of a season waiting on a replacement when it does finally poop the linens.

I have come across 85,000 +/- rounds more than once. I believe Slavex has gone through more than one Shadow. You may want to PM him and ask.

My old Shadow is 80,000+ now. It's got a 22 kit on it which has seem about 5000 more rounds, though I don't count that.
My match gun is around 20,000 or so. My backup around 50k and my backup backup 50k as well.
We are going to do a test on the old gun soon, 2000 rounds in one day, just to see what it will do.
