Cz sp01 shadow or glock 17

If I wanted to got to war..I’d take the Glock...for accuracy punching paper I’ll take my shadow...it’s still a very good pistol..Glock is too..just different..

CZ 75 Pre-B was my first auto. Great to learn on and still one of my most accurate pistols.
Everyone is different - try them both first. As others have said, generally the CZ's ergonomics are more instinctive (better grip angle), and the trigger is much better.
IMO the CZ is a better platform to learn on, although the Glock could be considered 'simpler' (i.e. no safety, just the bang-stick).
Whatever you get, invest some time in learning the basics (instructor, or watch videos) and practice, practice, practice.
Have fun!

Don't matter what we all say here, I've been all over the map for firearm choices (ballistic diversity I say).
Best advice is this; both are great, both have there little quirks, buy what you want and what fits in your hands. The new Gen 5 glocks have a higher beavertail so there more comfortable in the hand vs older gens mind you the Gen 4 are good. Cz's I would suggest a Shadow 2 (base model) if that direction is chosen. Not to expensive and pretty much good to go out of the box (same with the new Gen 5 glocks).

But like previous gunnies have mentioned, be smart, buy smart, play smart. Can't enjoy your new toy if you cant afford ammo/mags to feed it :)

I have Shadow SP-01 and Glock 19. Like them both. Shadow in my opinion is easier to shoot, but Glock has it's own charm. As a first handgun I would recommend to buy SP-01 though : )

I'll echo what other have said, CZ Shadow all the way. Great in every way out of the box, get it and shoot it, you'll be happy!

+1 for CZ.
Points can be made for and against both models. It boils down to your use and hands.
Use: range, no combat, no crazy mud, ... Any will do.
Hands: small, large, feeling (trigger, grip size, "squareness" of the Glock, trigger finger length, ...). This we cannot help you with, you have to handle both and see.

My 2 cents when I did that same exercise:
- Glock: consistent, if heavy trigger. A bit weird at first, as I was used to long range rifles with air triggers. Grip angle was not natural for me, so I tented to shoot high.
- CZ: I got a CZ-09. DA-SA took a bit of getting used to. But I had a 92FS before, so this was known territory. MUCH better trigger. Double strike possible, this helped me a couple times in timed events. Overall I prefer the CZ.

For me, Glock is a Civic. It is decent, reliable, ok. CZ is sportier, more "###y", and as reliable as the Glock (for my use anyway).
And until you fire a 1000 rounds, do not assume the pistol is the problem if you are not accurate (ask me how I know...). It takes a while to get used to it and have a consistent trigger pull.
Used models are great, remember you have to feed the pistol!

YMMV obviously.

Glock 17 was my first gun period, so it has a soft spot in my heart. I have a few Glocks now, and also have an expensive Tanfoglio that is very similar to CZ (some would say a CZ copy), but I shoot my Glocks the most

I think the Glock is great pistol to start out with because it really requires trigger control techniques to be accurate and consistent with them. I think once you learn to use a Glock trigger well, then you can shoot almost any handgun well using the techniques you've learned

Also if you have any interest in working on, modifying, or adding accessories to your pistol, the Glock is one of the best for that to start with. As its dead easy to disassemble and the aftermarket for them is huge. For me that was a nice part of the GLock as I like doing that kind of stuff just as much at I like shooting.

Either choice is a great choice IMO, but for me it was the G17

I don't have a Glock, but I love my SP-01. I have put about 4000 rounds through mine, and never a stoppage, even with some sketchy bargain ammo. It just breeds confidence that you will put bullets on target. I've shot BHP, Sigs, SW, H&K, and 1911s - by far the CZ is the best. It is just exceptional.

Started with a glock 17 and have tried the usual suspects in sig, cz, 1911s, S&W. At the black badge course I took last year CZ was popular but my g34 had no prob keeping up, definitely has more to do with practice. Pretty much exclusively gone to glock. The gen 5 g17 is really nice. Bought one last year, trigger and lack of finger grooves are much nicer than my gen 3.
Handle them (preferably shoot them) and see what you like. Glocks can definitely take some getting used to.

Composite guns are great to carry all day long on duty.

But on the firing line , to me , the Cz is a superior treat.

I love my S2.

You won’t be disapointed.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I ended up deciding on the CZ. Really stoked to finally own a handgun.

Nice choice. I tested a Glock 17 and CZ Shadow before ultimately buying the CZ as my only centerfire pistol. Shot well with both but ultimately, the ergonomics of the CZ was too hard to pass up. The Glock was too blocky, the CZ fits like a glove. Having the DA/SA trigger and manual safety meant I could practice more drills, it allows a little more carryover to other handgun designs.
