So I'm thinking of getting an CZ SP01 but I'm having a hard time deciding which version to get between the tactical and shadow or even the regular one.

Here are the descriptions:

CZ 75 SP-01

The CZ 75 SP-01 (CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical) pistol is a big-size handgun designed for duty in law enforcement or military service, but also for target shooting or self defence having a large capacity double-column magazine holding 18 cartridges of cal. 9x19 and featuring classic DA firing mechanism (SA/DA). The pistol design is based on proved CZ 75 platform. Grip panels made of rubber are provided with checkerings. Long beavertail located at the upper portion of backstrap protects shooter's hand against the slide in its rearward movement and enables more deeper and secure grip. Newly shaped and robust frame made from steel and this handgun structural design provide long service life, accuracy and reliability even at demanding conditions and environments, which can be expected at the specialized units tasks fulfilment. The front portion of the pistol frame features integral light or laser rail of MIL-STD-1913 for the attachment not only of these devices. Sights are open and have squared configuration. Dots fitted into the rear sight and front sight are made of tritium luminescent inserts for aiming at poor visibility conditions.

Thanks to its exceptional accuracy and easy target acquisition even in quick and repeated fire meant that the CZ 75 SP-01 pistol found its supporters also in the field of sport and target shooting events.

CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow
The new generation of CZ 75 SP-01 pistol especially adapted according to suggestions as proposed by users from Law Enforcement, Military and Police communities worldwide, with an additional input from the Team CZ world premier shooters Angus Hobdell and Adam Tyc. The CZ 75 SP-01 SHADOW features no firing pin block, which consequently helps to slightly reduce trigger pull weight and improves trigger travel properties. Pistol frame which comes from a new mould incorporates alterations such as recess beneath the trigger guard and beavertail to enable a higher grip of this handgun. Slightly “weaker” recoil spring originating from standard production CZ 75/85 pistols facilitates loading and enhances the shooting comfort. Sights consisting of fiber optics front sight and tactical “Novak style” rear sight to promote much easier, faster and more accurate target acquisition. Round off edges of magazine well, substantially improve reloading. This new generation of CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow pistol is appropriate for service use, self-defense and sport alike.

I guess the main difference between shadow vs the other two is the sights. Are fiber optic front sights any good? Or are tritium sights better? I don't ever plan to shoot in the dark though (duh, we're in canada)

The Shadow is in essence a SP01(Tactical uses a decocker instead of regular safety) which has been tuned and has had fun-parts added to it directly from CZ for IPSC purposes.

Price difference between the two is usually about $150.00.

Looking around for prices, the best price seems to be at wolverine. The SP01 is 795. The tactical is 799 and the shadow is 829.

Would you say that the shadow is the most accurate of the three?

The Shadow has the competition parts.
Competition sights,Competition hammer, lighter recoil spring, no firing pin block.

It has a really nice trigger compared to my CZ75b.
I would have bought the shadow but I shoot IDPA as well and needed a gun that qualified for both IPDA and IPSC.

Wolverine's prices are good.
Gunsnthings is $839 after tax but before shipping but Wolverine is a sponsor.

+1 !!:D go with the Shadow

shadow it is :)
gunsnthings looks like its going to be over 100 dollars cheaper than at reliable...anyone think reliable will sell the shadow to me for 900 taxes in?

If you are willing to pay cash I think you have a shot at $900. Shane has given me great deals this way.

The Shadow wasn't available when I got my SP-01. The extras on the Shadow are what I had a gunsmith do to my SP-01 anyway. It's worth the difference.

Shadow it is! I hope reliable is willing to negotiate. I'd really like to do business with them but the difference in price right now is just too great to justify buying from them instead of gunsnthings

Wasn't it Gunsthings who sold regular SP-01 as Shadows in the past?

Go with the Shadow and if it were me, I'd get it from Wolverine, ask them if they'd lower the price a notch.

I've had good dealings with Guns n things. My CZ-75 stainless was bright when I thought I was ordering the Satin style. They took it back, had it bead blasted and returned. No charge other than one way post. It looks perfect now. Very professional job and I appreciated that they wanted to make sure I was happy. Also my CZ-527 Kevlar arrived, no problems.

I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again. Just my 2 cents.

I just ordered from gunsnthings and their service so far has been top notch.
My emails sent at 10PM would be answered the morning after at 9AM.

The transaction was pretty much as follows:

Me:"I'd like to purchase the sp01 shadow"
G&T:"Here's the specs:___, price:___, payment & transfer procedure:___"
I send in EMT
Me:"I sent EMT, here's the password and info"
G&T:"Here's the transfer number, will ship when registration is complete"

Their price was very very very low. Their tax + shipped price is lower than some stores before tax and shipping.

Now, I play the waiting game.

Btw, anyone know where I can get a holster for this thing?

I picked up a Shadow from G&T as well--as Ratzilla mentioned upthread their efficiency (and pricing) is hard to beat. It took less than a week from the time I first contacted them to the time the pistol arrived on my doorstep. One question though--what's the deal with the spring and green and black plastic bits in the bag? I'm guessing it's a different mainspring but I'm not sure.
