Dear experts:) ,

I pumped an amount enough to buy one of two guns I wanted a long, long time: CZ-75 Tactical Sport or STI Trojan. I'm going to use it in 25 m centre fire bull-eye competitions.
Please, any opinions?

(Almost a month ago I placed few questions about CZ-75TS accuracy. Unbelievable, no response. It makes me think that all reports about CZ excellency I read in other forums belong to USA-CZ dealers)

Boy, good question.

I have fired both and I think you will be well served by either in bullseye shooting. If you said IPSC I would recommend the CZ hands down as it is designed for that sport.

The CZ has fixed sights where the STI has adjustable - thats one up for the STI for bullseye I guess.

The STI is a single stack which would require a ten-round mag to stick way out the bottom where the CZ is a double stack. You may find one or the other frame to fit your hand better.

Both are very accurate, no problems either way there.

The out-of-the-box trigger is better on the CZ, actually one of the best I have ever seen from the factory.

The fit and finish of the STI is probably (almost certainly) superior as they are hand-assembled by a gunsmith.

Parts will be far easier to find for the STI, and mags are certainly cheaper. Most any pistol smith will be an old hand at 1911s, but the same can certainly not be said for the CZ.

Tough call friend. I run an STI edge for IPSC, and I was considering the CZ TS as I have been shooting CZs for years in other diciplines. I bought the STI because all the top IPSC shooters are running STI or SVI. That says a lot to me.

Hope this helps, but reading it over now I'm not sure it will! The best advice is to try both and see which one fits you best for your sport.

Good shooting mate,

I own a CZ tactical sport, it's a IPSC standard gun NOT designed for bullseye shooting. It allows fast repeat shooting due to it's heavy weight and the overall design makes it almost on par with a tricked out STI standard gun for IPSC standard matches. Bullseye is a whole different story. For bullseye speed is not much of an issue, the main focus is on accuracy. While the CZ TS have superb accuracy in the IPSC standard world, it is not sufficient for Bullseye, unless you are not shooting competitively. Of course I'm talking about out of the box accuracy here. STI has the real advantage of having excellent out of box accuracy. Though for the price difference, I bet you can get a gunsmith to get the CZ TS tricked out to be just as accurate, ie get a tighter fit between the barrel and the bushing. Full length SS or even a tungsten(lots of work to be done) guide rod. But then again, you wouldn't use a butcher knife for fileting a fish, why bother using a gun specifcially designed for IPSC standard for bullseye?

And depending on how big your hands are, you may find one is more comfortable to shoot than the other, Edge is a single stack, TS is not only a double stack, it's on the big side for a double stack as well.

As for cosmetics you will like the STI better probably. The CZ TS has a blued slide, and an epoxy coated cast frame. The checkering on the CZ TS is not very defined. I will probably strip the epoxy and make the checkering sharper and coat it with nickle plating. STI is a 1911 copy so the slide is taller, giving you more room to hold on to the slide, the CZ TS is a CZ duh! so the sides of the slide is much narrower, less room for you to hold on to. You will really notice the difference if you had a heavy recoil spring on. It can be very hard to slide the slide back on the CZ TS, although you can use the high rear sight on the CZ TS to help... it's generally not recommended. Just some things that I thought you should know.

With all that said, don't think for one nanosecond that I regret getting my CZ TACTICAL SPORT. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it because it meets all the requirement I need it to for an IPSC standard gun. And you can get it from gunsnthings.com for less than 1100 with taxes in!

But the gun aside, only tons and tons and tons of practice can reveal the guns' full potential. If you are just gonna buy a gun that you are going to be pampering in your hand and imagining how good it would make you look when you shoot it ALL THE TIME. Then you might as well get an airsoft replica. LOL.

If you got the cash, get BOTH. Find out for yourself which one is better. LOL. Ok I admit it's kinda foolish to say such thing cuz if really had that kind cash wouldn't be posting the question here.

Anyway, I think I said enough. Hope it helps! Heh

I think the general concensus is that, while both units are excellent in their own right, your indication that bullseye is the goal...say no more..it's the STI.
I (currently) own 3 CZ's..an 85Combat(my first gun!), an SP-01...a real sweety, and a limited run 75, single action, in 40S&W..a tack driver.
BUT, I have also had several Trojans..one in 40S&W, and one in 38 Super...
and I think you'll have more fun with the STI for conventional target shooting.
Just my $0.02 worth....

Thanks to everybody.
I have ordered STI Targetmaster.
STI are nice pieces. I am curious why you chose the Target Master model? 9mm or 45?

Not sure why he did, but for me for if you want a bullseye pistol, the target master has some nice features...

1)6" barrel and slide for longer sight radius and better inherent accuracy assuming the same degree of tolerancing as a 5" setup.

2)Bull barrel for slightly reduced tolerances on lock-up, again giving better inherent accuracy.

3)More weight out front for "flatter" recoil.

4)Top of the line "target" sights.

5)Single stack for more comfortable single hand grip if you have smaller hands or short fingers.

Sure most of those are available in other pistols or as options on other pistols, but this one saves the trouble of putting them together.

I ordered 9 mm. I know, lot of people hate this caliber, but I'm not considering reloading in near future...And when one guy got 550 out of 600 with factory 9mm ammo, just before my eyes, I didn't hesitate more.
Actually STI RAngemaster looks better in my view, but Targetmaster only has Aristocrat sights...
