CZ Vz-24 or German Mauser : opinions?

All three, the VZ24, K98k and Yugo k98 are all good options. The Yugo are in better shape than RC k98k`s though. But the VZ24`s have smoother action than the other two. If you get a RC find one with Firing Proofs on left side of receiver (eagle sitting on swastika) they are more desirable and better for resale. I`m looking for one that is Czech made marked DOT or DOU.

I was looking at Lever's vz-24s online (from Winnipeg). Have you by any chance taken a look at them? Is Lever alright to deal with? I asked them to send me a couple of pics of one of the rifles but they said they couldn't.

I'd also vote for the yugo. Easier to find than RC's and even a bit cheaper. The 24's have become a bit overpriced now in my opinion.

I have a vz24... Its my favorite of the mausers I have. That being said, I do not have a k98 yet. I have a vz24 , a swede, and a brazil mauser in 30/06.. the Swede is the best looking one though....

Just ordered a VZ24 from lever before christmas. It has no crest left and the stick lion is almost gone too, otherwise everything is matching, came with 2 pouches, bayonet, cleaning rod, sling, blank cap, gas gauge key????, wood is great, bore and rifling is great 7/10, .5 point for some wood wear near hand guard, 2.5 points off for crest. Plus they had a sale $300

I bought a vz 24 from lever a while ago, they were all really good condition when i was there, and good prices too. I also have owned several k98's (but never a Yugo one). i find the Vz24 has better fit and finish, and certainly better accuracy (although mine has really good bore).

From what I can see, VZ24 barrels are 1cm shorter than K98 barrels. Inside the barrel, the lands are also 2-3x wider in the VZ24 than the K98, which may increase chamber pressures given the same load. Maybe a positive feature for cast bullets though?

vz24 are kinda like swedes for me...underrated. vastly so. The few vz24's I've seen have fit th'bill for finest of fit n' finish. Best German Rifles are Czech made(close second to Steyr in AUS). Th'ol VZ doesn't command the same as a k98 , but my pref for sure. Straight bolt aside...(see the pun? can't stop 'em)
