Hey guys...deciding which route I'd like to go. I had the pleasure of shooting an open-sight 2E this summer while on a week-long gopher safari in SW Alberta :) .....and it got me thinking that my eyes have a little life in them, perhaps an open-sighted .22 in the collection might still be a good idea. I've been combing the EE, had a few opportunities at nice 2E's...but am now wondering whether or not I should just grab a 452 Lux. Nostalgia aside, "classic 22" warm & fuzzies aside...are there any real tangible differences between the 2 rifles? From what I understand, 2Es were assembled by CZ anyway, some combination of BRNO & CZ parts depending on how early in CZ's life the particular rifle was made.

I plan on making the decision in the next few days, and welcome any/all input. A new 452Lux is a bit more of a commitment $-wise, but I want the right rifle when the dust settles.

Thanks for taking a moment to chime in!

Get what you can find..........or buy them both.
CZ452's seem to show up occasionally and ruhmore hazz it they aren't
on the assembly line now.

For some time, I have the itch to buy a CZ452 Lux and put some peep sights on it.
I have a very nice match rifle with peep sights but its heavy as F_C_ !
It could be nice to have an accurate, not too heavy rimfire rifle wich relatively lightweight.

I personally think the Lux is the near perfect configuration of all the CZ's rimfire line.
Long barrel but not too long, not too heavy, well balanced, walnut stock and sights.

I don't think you can go wrong with the BRNO or the 452.
The BRNO is older but there's still very nice examples around.
Some says the BRNO's are less accurate, others says they are more accurate.

I have a 452 Varmint and a 452 American so I'm a little biased :p

Something to consider when comparing Brno 2E and CZ 452 Lux is dovetail size. If I recall the original Brno Model 2 has dovetails that are wider than the CZ 452 Lux's 11mm.

I would get either one. When I was looking couldn't find a brno so went with a 452 lux and man am I ever happy with it.

If you are wanting an open sight CZ, have you considered an Ultra Lux? That is what I picked up to eventually compete in an open sight .22 shoot at my club. Weight doesn't matter on the bench, the longer eye sight plain is nice, and it is quiet to shoot.

Thanks for the posts guys~greatly appreciated. Undecided at this point, but sure not against the idea of a 452 Lux. Since I've read so much about both, I can't honestly say I have a preference...so with the opportunity to perhaps spend a little less on a BRNO, I may go that route. Bottom line, I'm looking for a specimen that "jumps out at me", good combination of fair price, nice wood, reputable seller, etc. Allot going on at the moment with other stuff too, so I'm in the unusual situation of having the budget to buy something, the desire to own one~and almost no sense of panic. New territory for me. :)
