CZ453 Value?

I have a buddy who wants to unload a CZ453 Varmit in .22 (with the set trigger) and a Bushnell 32-51540 Tactical scope. I think the gun is around 8 years old or so and may have had a few thousand (if that) rounds through it. He says it is in excellent shape and no dings or scratches. It has been well looked after and only saw use at the range.

I really have no idea what the gun/scope is worth and I've always wanted a CZ. Thoughts?

You don't say what model of CZ 453 it is -- Varmint (the most common in Canada, American, or Lux) -- nor the caliber. I don't know about the value of the scope, but the most recent offerings of 453 Varmints in .22LR on the EE were for asking prices of $650 and $700 last month. I would guess they sold at those prices without much dickering.
 
The numbers on the scope could be any one of a number and there was a warning about the numbers being exact.

All CZ453's had set triggers.

What ammo was he shooting and did he produce any of the groups for inspection.

Caliber wise it could be 22 lr, rimfire mag or 17 HMR.
Although said in a constructive way . . . with the information supplied you better pay more attention to the detail; in all sincerity!

When asked to price a Weatherby a few years ago they attached more value to the "Gold" trigger and discounted the fact there was rust, scabbard wear and the stock had been broke!
 
Since the seller is your buddy, I think it would be a win win if you could agree on a sweetheart deal price of $800 for rifle and scope package. I could see the package selling for $850 plus shipping on the EE.

Ask him what he wants!

This may prove to be the best win win price. If he says $700 and you pay without quibbling you both win. When someone is selling they should have a price in mind versus you offering what you think it might be worth.

I have gone both ways but one never knows the negotiating ability of a seller when he baits you into offering a price.
 
I have in the past written down what I want.
Buddy does the same.
Split the change.
This works between good friends.
