Anyone know the market value of a CZ52 rifle these days? The one chambered for 7.62x45mm.

Was thinking of a new milsurp to add to the collection and am considering this one but I don't see any for sale anywhere to check prices.

PS: This is not a WTB ad, not even sure if I want one yet.

I like mine but its in 7.62x39. Its accurate, heavy and light recoling. Have seen a few at gun shows ranging from $300-$450. Because of the gas system you have to be very careful if using corrosive ammo.

The VZ-52 are $200-300 guns IMO. I have two - one is Czech and the other was made in Egypt. I have the Numrich 7.62x39 "converter" in the one and shoot 7.62x45 in the other. Brass can be made from 220 Swift or 6.5x52 Carcano (my preference). CH4D makes dies (pricey though).

The VZ-52/57 is the best Military 7.62x39 shooter IMO - better than the Rashid and SKS.

I'm aware that Egypt was supplied Vz 52s. I am not aware of Egyptian manufacture of same. Anything is possible, witness the discovery of Iraqi manufactured Rashids (albeit not that surprising given the Egypt-UAR-Syria origins and Iraq being fellow Baathists), but what proves a Vz 52 as Egyptian made?

One of mine is marked "UAR" as opposed to "SHE". The UAR is explained by the understanding that the Egyptians made original VZ52's or conversions to the VZ52/57 at Helwan "Maadi" complex using Czech supplied parts and tools.

Would it be possible to post a picture of the carbine in question along with any unique markings?

I'm not trying to start an argument nor call into question your expertise on the subject merely trying to establish some definite provenance for the manufacturing rumour, which is also posted on "Carbines for Collectors. That site admits that it may be only rumour. Perhaps you have some other info?

It's quite logical that Czechoslovakia would aggresively export the Vz 52 in light of Soviet pressure to adopt the 52/57 and the 7.62x39. The Vz 52 shows up in that era in many places including Cuba.

I'll do that tomorrow. The pic will show the UAR marking, but I have no unique insight into the gun's origin, beyond what I have read, so I can't confirm, nor refute the rumours.

My bad, it has a "AYM" (the Czech "Uhersky Brod" factory) marking. I was in Las Vegas at the time and going by my (bad) memory.
