CZ527 7.62x39 moose

Kudos on the moose.
I have also taken a nice bull moose and 2 elk with the 7.62x39. All within 100yds, no real difference than anything else I have ever used.

A friend of mine here killed a large bull with the then new Ruger 77 in 7.62X39, and claimed a .300 Winchester would have done no better. IIRC, the range was within 100 yards. A million moose have been killed with .30-30s, and although I consider the .30-30 the superior game cartridge, the ballistic similarities are close enough to draw comparisons, particularly with some of the anemic factory loads we've seen since the demise of CIL.

that caliber is used in europe for elk, european moose, bears there is maybe better choice but it is working. i know trappers here using it on moose and or caribou while on their traplines. it was sks and 858 or vz and now t81 ...

I always wanted to give it a crack with 150’s but it seemed like a stunt

Well, then it's a stunt that many companies have seen fit to publish data for.

With CFE BLK and Sierra 150 Pro Hunters , I get 2350 fps and right around MOA. That's the same performance as .30-30, but with a spitzer bullet.

The real stunt was loading Campro 180s... get 2200 fps and again right around MOA with those. Rifle is a 527 carbine.
