CZ527 Kevlar loads

My 527 Kevlar likes the 55gr Ballistic Tip ahead of Benchmark, using Lapua brass, and the 205M primer. The result is 5 shot 100 yard groups averaging right around 1/2".

I load with benchmark 25.7gr, winchester primers, uniformed flash holes and the 50gr varmint grenades, works for the 52 gr Berger too.

Looks like you could stretch out the OAL, make as long as possible that will still fit in magazine. Mine likes the bullet to start close to the lands, just touching if possible. Sometimes I'm a bit lazy and don't make them as long as I should. Check with a marker if you are touching the lands.

A buddy shoots a HB tikka 223 using varget with good success. I've chose not to use it as the difference between min and max load was fairly tight and didn't allow for much metering error. The spread for benchmark is greater therefore metering error has less influence on performance.

Forgot- I shoot the cz also, action is smooth like silk. Sound like there is something wonky with yours.

Dan Opel in alberta here is a hardcore benchrest guy and makes good quality 52gr match grade bullets. Price last time i checked was comparable to hornady bullets.

I'll give stubble jumper's suggest a try as well. I seem to recall he loads that one at 2.3 OAL.

2.3" puts the 55gr Ballistic Tip .010" off of the lands in my rifle. The groups weren't great with my starting loads, but as the velocity was increased, the groups tightened up nicely.

Good stuff. What powder loads are we looking at for this round?

In the cooler weather, I found 25gr of Benchmark was the most accurate in my rifle, but I don't know if there will be pressure issues in hot weather, because I haven't fired the gun in hot weather.
