I follow a specific cleaning procedure with boiling water followed by a generous coating of gun oil after shooting corrosive ammo out of my SKS. I now have a CZ527.:D

For those of you who shoot corrosive ammo out of a CZ527, what is your cleaning procedure?
Do you disassemble bolt and wash it in boiling water?
Do you remove the trigger group and wash it in boiling water?

Thank you

I don't have a 527, but for my Yugo Mauser I clean the bore and the bolt face for the corrosive salts and the rest gets regular attention only, nothing special.

I don't know how you guys can stand cleaning corrosive ammo. I got a tin can of 800 rounds and after that, I said "never again... never again" Still got 60 rounds of that #### left and just keep using my MFS 7.62x39 instead.

Going shooting tomorrow with a new CZ 527 Carbine. Well report back here afterwards to let people know what kind of groups it gets. Its not my gun, buddy of mine got it as a deer hunting rifle and its so light. Quality compact hunting rifle that I wouldn't run cheap surplus though it no way.

I used corrosive in my CZ527 Carbine and it worked well. Accuracy with this stuff was...meh. I followed the same procedure as my SKS. Full disassembly (barrel and action removed from stock) and boiling water before cleaning and oiling. This quickly grew very old as the CZ527 is not meant to be pulled apart on a regular basis as is done with the SKS. A right PITA to be sure. The last time I shot corrosive through the gun I spent a day cleaning and vowed to never shoot that stuff through it again.
I reload now as I've got a lot of boxer primed brass. About 500 pieces. Accuracy is about 1" MOA

I save the corrosive for my SKS.

Because some of us don't go overboard on the paranoia and subsequent cleaning regimen. I hose the barrel, gas system, bolt and receiver with G96 and put the gun away, THAT'S IT. Never any rust. The whole boiling water procedure is completely unnecessary when good cleaning products exist.

I tried that with my early 51 unchromed Tula SKS. Swabbed the bore with lots of "good cleaning products" after shooting. Bore swabs looked clean after a few. Quick oiling in the bore each day for two more days. Everything looked great until I looked at the bore a week later. She was light brown with rust. Not something I'd ever leave to chance now, especially with my CZ527.

What's the recipe ?

22 grains of H4198, Hornady #3140 123gr.SP. WLR or CCI 200 primers. I crimp the bullet in place as the neck is very short, and I don't trust that there's enough friction to secure the bullet in place.

I've got a really cheap a$$ scope that's only 4x. I'd like to get more magnification as my eyesight isn't what it used to be.

Thanks very much.

I know the feeling:(

Sorry to derail, but hows the accuracy on that little gun? We talking 1 moa? Been thinking about one...

Using factory PRVI soft point ammunition, sub MOA. I don't take pictures of all my targets but I can get 4 out of 5 shots thru a dime on the average day. I've posted this before. Its a great little gun. The only flaw is the shorter ranges using X39 ammo.

To the OP, Just clean normally as any corrosive ammo. Don't let the "corrosive" thing scare you from cheaper costs. The only issue I've seen is a bit of extra wear on the extractor from shooting steel cases.

When cleaning the bolt face, do you do anything special for the firing pin? You guys are awesome with lots of good info.

I like 1 part Simple Green Pro HD to 5 parts water in a spray bottle. Soak the bore and run wet patches through it until they start coming out with very little fouling. Run a couple of dry patches through and follow up with an oily patch. Do the same thing to the gas system (if applicable and bolt face and you should be good to go.

Water is what dissolves the corrosive salts, but a water-based degreasing solution (e.g. soapy water, TSP, Windex, etc.) will do a better job of removing carbon, which may be hiding additional salt.

Oiled metal will never rust, its as simple as that.

Break free clp is the best imo. I just run an oiled patch through my Savage 10FCM after I shoot surplus and it's never ever failed me.

1 moa? Thats pretty damn impressive. I'm not a realoader though so i buy factory, not sure theres good enough factory 7.62x39 for me to get 1 moa
