Good evening,

I’m looking at mounting a Nikon M5 4-16x50 on my CZ550 hunting rifle.

Any recommendations on what rings to go with?

Has anyone mounted a similar size lens? Did you have to remove the rear sight to mount it as low as possible?

Thank you!

Is it a 550 Medium 308-9.3x62 or Magnum 375 H&H and up?

The limitation with mounting a scope on most CZ rifles is often the high bolt lift that will interfere with the eye piece of the scope before the front objective part with touch the barrel or rear sight. Most CZ rings start at medium and go up from there because of this. Phil.

Good evening Phil,
How much for a set of CZ rings?
How much for install? Rifle was bought at your shop last spring.
Thanks

The CZ compatible rings are unique as the rear ring has a little spur which seats in the receiver. You can buy CZ rings which are expensive, and relatively cheaply made, or you can buy other manufacturers such as Leupold, Millet, Talley or Warne (vertically split ones, cant recall). I have a set of the vertically split QD ones - expensive and well made, but a pain to set up, and a set of Millett (inexpensive, but workable). If I were to do it again, I would buy Leupold.

After looking at my various setups Phil of P&D said it best. The rear eye piece does seam to be the limiting factor. 90% of mine are Q.R. Warne. 1 Burris, 1 Optilock, 1 Lynx, and a couple others. My next rings will be Alaska Arms LLC. Q.R.

I’ve had a lot of different scopes on my CZ 550 Lux using medium high Leupold 19mm Dovetail rings. I’m not sure why they offer high as a 50mm objective fits right at home on it. My only guess is high is for the 56mm objective scopes. The most important thing I’ve learned with choosing a scope for a CZ 550 is, make sure the tube is long or the scope has good eye relief. I had a Nikon Monarch 2-8x32 on it before and the tube was too short and had to really push myself into the gun to get proper eye relief. It also looked really goofy with all that room inbetween the scope and barrel. If you want it to look nice as most of us like our guns looking good, go big with 50mm, 44mm with scope caps on looks okay, and 1-4x20 Leupolds look good on anything. I normally don’t use scopes. Only use them for load development and the remove it. Most of my hunting is close range. My Black Bear was 20 or so yards away last year and my last mule deer was even closer.

20y is outstanding! Nice and close!
I ended up using her last fall for deer with iron sights and hit my young spiker at 100 and doe at 125. I’m super happy with the irons that’s for sure but I want to have the capacity to successful hunt with it at farther distances.

There are a few choices. Bring your gun in and we can find something that works. $45 install fee including lapping rings and bore sighting, $25 if your buying a scope. Or we can supply the rings and tell you what to do. Phil.
