Hi all I have found a cz550 lux in .243 that I love but the test target is 3 shots at 50 meters strung horizontal over 2 inches maybe even a bit more I want the rifle it is nice but my 750 and 452 came with much better targets than this. Would like to here from owners that had CZ's come with poor targets and were still great firearms, or owners who's came with poor targets and were poor shooters.

I've had a total of 4 CZs pass through my hands. I'm of the thinking that CZ just tests the function of the rifle with the test target. It seems to have no relation to how that rifle shoots. It's almost like buddy testing gets bored and fires some from a rest and some offhand.

3 shots from a 243 shouldn't heat the barrel enough to cause a 4 moa spread. I wouldn't worry about the test target too much, experiment with different ammo and you should find something that shoots to your liking.

I have 6 CZ rifles. All of them have excellent test targets and are all excellent shooters. I do however completely agree with Cam1936. I have shot some CZ's that had shotgun-esque test targets and there were just as accurate as mine. Bottom line, shoot it, find some ammo it likes, and enjoy.

Thanks,
Cal.

Thank you for the replies I found the number for dlask in bc I believe they are the warranty shop for cz but they are so busy they only accept calls between 12-4pm. I love CZ's and will give this one a chance before I clean it and try it out I do want to see if they will warranty it if I am not happy but I'm sure it will be fine she sure is pretty.

I was not super impressed with the test target I got with my CZ 550 FS in .308. So far, I'm shooting it with open sights only so I don't have the best info yet. However, my comment is that I am very happy at this point. I won't post a target until I get my scope mounted in the next couple of weeks. My test target sounds about like yours. I wanted a cloverleaf.
They really are pretty. Mine only had the tiniest little mark on one diamond in the checkering. Other than that, it was perfectly clean. Good luck with it. I hope it works out for you.

They don't have someone sitting there testing the guns trying to get the best group possible. They don't have enough time for that. They just place the gun in a brace and fire it 3 times really fast. They have a standard deviation of checking for the rifles point of aim. For the CZ rimfire rifles, they fire 4 shots. If you want to know exactly what they're doing, e-mail CZUB.

When I got my CZ 550 LUX Euro, with iron sites, it got 50mm (2") groups with iron sites off the bat at 100m (109yd). As the barrel broke in and as I got use to it, the groups got down to 38mm. (1.5") With the addition of a 3 - 8x32mm Nikon Monarch scope, The average groups went down to 25mm (1") at 100m (109yd) with the occasional lucky 20mm (0.8") group.

I own a 550 varminter in 308 Win, excellent shooter, I developed a load for it, 1.5-2" spread at 300 yards, funny enough, I get the same spread at 218 yards, very common, needs some distance to stabilize. My hunting friend has a 550 lux in 30-06 which I shot a number of times, very good and consistent accuracy. When I retire my hunting a-bolt, I'll replace it with another CZ.

its all good this is a open sight function test target not a accuracy target . i thought the same thing when i bought the wifes 550 6.5x 55 i slapped a vortex scope on it and .75 moa with factory loads

all good

This comes up on rimfire central from time to time. The target is a test of function. There have been some very bad looking test targets posted on that site and they turn out to be perfect shooters. Shoot it and enjoy.
THere was discussion also on rimfire central that once a week the guy that shoots the worst test target buys lunch.

It is a fine rifle working and not much time but I took it out to the range and started breaking it in and it seems to be accurate I have not decided, may not even put a optic on it.
