CZ557 Ranger rifle?

You may be correct! I wouldn't necessarily consider the checkering to be proof, but the rifle was billed as a CZ557, but maybe the lucky finder was
given incorrect info when he purchased it. Looking at then CZ wiki, it also sounds like it could also be a CZ750 sniper by the description(10 round magazine, Weaver rail).
Nonetheless, I'd like to see CanadaAmmo, a CZ dealer, bring in a bunch of these rifles, since CZ has already tooled them up! Whatever it is.

the competition wasn't cancelled.
they completed it, ruger was the winner but refused to give up proprietary rights to their rifle for colt canada to make it.
or at least that was the gist of what i read on the subject.
 
Whatever it is, it looks cool, I don't own a .308 yet, and it has a Canadian Rangers crest on it. That's enough for me. Sign me up. I'll take one.

Semantics. Whatever, it will probably end up going to a new RFP.

The CZ750 is completely different. Were talking a $5000 military sniper rifle vs a $1000 hunting rifle. I'm telling you, just by looking at that picture of that gun, its not a CZ557 or a 750 its for sure a 555. The CZ557 was only revealed this year and uses a lighter coloured stock, different checkering style and checkering in odd nontraditional places, no hare trigger, and does not use a control feed system.
