Hello,

A company called Cajun Gun Works makes a spring that's 11.5lbs for the sp01 shadow, however they won't ship to Canada. Can someone tell me if there is a site to buy an equivalent spring for my pistol?

Thank you

Can't help you on how to get one of the CGW springs, but I've got one of the 11.5 lb springs in my gun, and to be honest, the feel compared to the relatively more available 13 lb spring is negligible - at least to me. I switch to the 13 lb spring whenever I'm shooting reloads with Dominion primers just to make sure they go boom.

I even have an 8.5 lb spring which makes the trigger crazy light, but it only works reliably with Federal primers in my gun.

I know wolf springs sells springs but i dont know which one I need. Of course if someone wants to sell one, id take it

Are you looking for a main/hammer spring or a recoil spring? [Edit - I see in the post title that it is a hammer spring that you seek - nm) Most seem to use an 11 lb recoil spring and a 13 lb main/hammer spring.

I presume that you know that unless you are shooting light loads an 11 lb recoil spring risks damaging your gun. Also that even at a 13 lb main spring, you may get light primer strikes with some (harder) primers.

Gotenda.com has a good selection of CZ parts but not an 11 lb main/hammer spring.

I have a 13lb hammer spring, 11 lb recoil spring, and extended firing pin and comp hammer. I have a recoil buffer to prtect gun. I want a 11.5lb hammer spring to bring my trigger weight down juwt a touch more from 7 to 6pounds and 3.2 to 2.8ish

Contact Dean at Select Shooting Supplies. He carries a wide variety of CZ Custom springs. He will likely be able to help you out.

You will NOT have light primer strikes if you use either an extended firing pin or a reduced power firing pin spring with a light hammer spring. I have 11.5 lb main springs with RPFPS in two of my CZ's, and have NEVER had a light strike in either, and I use hard CCI primers. I personally prefer to have a light firing pin spring opposed to an extended firing pin as I had a bad experience with one in my 1911, but a lot of people use them without them issues, so that is just my preference. I have two 11.5 lb main springs in two of my guns and 13 lb mainsprings GE in my other two CZ's. I do notice a difference with the 11.5 lbs. my DA trigger pull is 6.5 lbs in my Shadow 2 and shadowline. I couldn't even break the 8 lb mark on the 13 lb spring.

Select Shooting supplies sold me the 13lb one, I don't think he has any other ones, Id like to know where all you guys found the 11.5lb one, I have the extended firing pin with the RAMI lighter firing pin spring, no way I would get light primer strikes.

I expressed my concerns in another forum regarding reducing the trigger pull in one of my CZ's, and a forum member pm'd me and asked what I was looking for. I told him that I was looking for 11.5 pound springs, reduced firing pin springs to go with that and reduced power firing pin block springs. He said 'send me $40 US by (FRAUD ALERT) and I will send them to you. I did and so did he. I received them in less than ten days as they were not even stuck at customs. The reduced power firing pin springs were lighter than the ones that came with my 13# springs purchased from Wolverine, and they work 100%. Every now and then, you have exceptional forum members that jump out and assist us deprived Canadians.
As far as 11.5 lb hammer springs, you will not find them in Canada, as the only supplier that makes them (to my knowledge) is CJW, and they will not ship to Canada due to the federal laws. This means that Canadian suppliers won't have them either. There are very few US suppliers that ship to Canada. Brownell's is one, and so is CZ Custom (they charge you a mint for shipping). I heard of people using 8# and 10# hammer springs, but not too sure where they got them or even who makes them. Slavex has mentioned in a previous thread that he has 10# hammer springs in his CZ's. You can ask him where he got them as he may know of a supplier. Good luck!

Other places sell CGW items that ship to Canada. Ben Stoegers pro shop is one place I believe. Ebay is another option. Just gotta spend some time looking and you will find options.

Lock times, I have not noticed any difference in lock times with reduced springs.

Good to hear.

I had some time today and did a full strip, degrease, lube and light polish of my Shadow 2 today. I installed a 13lb recoil spring, 12lb mainspring and a -10% reduced power sear spring. The DA trigger pull seemed to have reduced a little. I can't measure it with my cheapie Wheeler trigger gauge but it's still over 8lbs which is the max on the gauge. SA trigger pull seems to have dropped to just a hair over 3lbs compared to the 3.5lbs it was originally.

Are Shadow 2 owners getting sub-8lb DA after swapping out to a 13lb mainspring?

you'd need to go with a 11.5lb hammer spring to get sub 8lb, last time I checked with my Shadowmate I was just a touch over 5.5lbs in DA, SA I've never measured

An 11.5 # spring does reduce the DA considerably. With my gauge, the DA pull on my Shadow 2 is measured in at a consistent 6.5 lbs, SA is just under 3 lbs. Keep in mind though that my gun is no wheres near broken in, so it will probably reduce a little from that over time. I have used the same setup in my Shadowline, and the pull is a little heavier at 7 lbs DA, but it is not that noticeable. SA is the same! I have not had ANY light strikes while using the reduced power firing pin spring in either gun.

Humm, unless there's a big jump from 12lb to 11.5lb or the 12lb spring I got from IPSCStore wasn't 12lbs as listed on the package. With the 12lbs, I still can't trip my Wheeler scale which maxes out at 8lbs.

I have never tried a 12 lb spring so I can't comment. I have tried 13 lb, and it too did not break the 8 lb scale mark. I would say that you probably got a 13 lb spring (You can't test this, and not all suppliers are honest). 12 lb should have broken 8 lbs, I would guess. It would also depend on the gun as the Shadow 2 has a better trigger. The Shadow line was a 1/2 lb heavier with the 11.5 lb spring.

Placed an order with Ben Stoeger and thought it was shipping, then they just cancelled it and said they can't ship to Canada. The search continues...
