Well, I picked up a TSO in 40SW last weekend at Tenda's VIP event. For under $2K. I couldn't say no.

Out of the box:

Pros:
- Fit & finish is tight! Zero rattle.
- Trigger is a very crisp 2lbs average with just a hair of grit that is barely... barely noticable.
- Gas pedal included! Yay!
- Two spare takedown pins (minus the slide lock lever), a nice bonus
- Shadow2 style extended LH safety with flat RH lever (I hated the box looking version with the notched corner on the earlier TSO)
- Aggressive frontstrap/backstrap checkering like the Shadow2
- Large Shadow2 paddle style mag release
- Nice magwell

Cons (mostly nit picking):
- Magwell not blended!! Grrr
- Mag release is stiff and gritty as frack
- Slide is hand fitted but not deburred
- Safety is STIFF and a little gritty. So stiff that trying to manipulate it on the flat RH side is almost impossible without using your fingernails.
- No extended RH safety lever
- Mags not easily dropping free or needing extra effort to seat
- No documentation that tells you what each spring weight is that comes in the kit
- 4 brown, rust looking dots on my barrel as you can see in the pic WTF?
- Factory installed buffer pad looked pretty beaten up but no signs that the pistol was shot much other than factory testing.
- Front slide serrations should be more forward and aggressive like the Shadow2 for easier manipulation and press check. It doesn't help that the frame is wider than the slide so if if you press check using your thumb and side of your lower index finger, it's too difficult to do.

I did a full tear down (minus the trigger) and deburring this afternoon.

The mag release channel had chatter and milling burrs galore. Deburred and polished up the channel now it's way better.

Mag release spring was prturding into the magwell, enough so that it would make contact with the magazine. Made some adjustments with the spring and mags drop out or insert without restrictions.

Polished the end of the trigger bar that was accessible and now that fine gritty feel is gone.

Hand lapped the slide rails and contact points on the frame. No more gritty slide.

Polished the safety and safety detent. It's smoother now but still pretty stiff. I think they use a stiffer detent spring than the Shadow2.

Surprisingly, the firing pin channel only had minor tooling chatter which was easily cleanen up.

The rust looking spots on the barrel were easily polished out.

I haven't gotten to blending the magwell as yet. I'll save that for next weekend.

It sounds like a bit of clean up work for what should be a factory tuned pistol but I'm just finicky that way. Most people would just shoot it as it is. I'll tell ya one thing, out of the box, it's a heck nicer than my Tanfoglio Ltd Custom which was $400. more and that was before the upgraded parts!!

Tenda has these at a steal of a price and I've never seen anyone selling these that cheap. Grab 'em while ya can!

Forgot to ask, does anyone know what the factory installed mainspring and recoil spring weights are? I read on other forums claiming 16# main, 14# recoil and others claiming 20# main and 11# recoil. I might have to count coils and do the math. Ack!

That's a great price but those are a lot of cons for a $2500 gun. If I'm paying that kind of money I don't expect to have to do any polishing or modifying. That mag well is pathetic.

You would think so. Goes to show how much your $$ can get ya. Still better out of the box than the Tanfoglio Limited Custom but at least the Tanfoglio's magwell was blended a bit better.

I wonder if any third party magwells fit better requiring less blending.

I have two 9mm Tactical Sports (not Orange) and the mag wells on both of them are a better fit than this. At least the funnels are centered to the gun's mag wells whereas yours seems too far to the rear. I entertained buying a TS Orange after handling one at the 2018 SHOT Show. Trigger pull and slide/frame fit were great. However I'm a fan of stainless guns as holster wear is less noticeable on them. The TS has a stainless frame & blue slide but the TSO is all blue which didn't thrill me, nor did I see that much difference given the $700 higher price. Still, I've periodically had the urge to make the jump but I think your experience has doused that fire. Maybe the $700 difference is for extra chatter marks and rust spots. :p (sorry, just being a ####).

Lol, no offense taken. I agree with you all the way to the bank. There's no excuse for that magwell issue, not when they are fetching $2400 sticker price. It's no SVI or Korth fine art but c'mon.

I stayed home from the Invitation even out of fear of what I'd have come home with. Would have been nice to go but I had visited the store the week before and had I have known would have waiting and gone for dinner too but oh well, got some good stuff as is.

Its kind of unfortunate that the finish isn't better on those pistols, I had been eyeing one in 9mm as an alternative to a Shadow 2 and even stopped looking at shadow 2's all together thinking the Orange pistol was more appropriate for me..... I have been known to have thing a bit Blaze Orange...even before I went hunting I had race horses and my racing tack etc... was piped with Blaze Orange highlights....I like how Gowdy abnoxiously loud Blaze orange is and you can see it from miles away.

lol, yeah, the orange colour is catchy. Hmmm, orange magwell, orange thumb rest, orange trigger.... :)

I was looking to see which DAA insert I'd need for my holster and was looking for confirmation 'cause I knew there were two trigger guard styles for the TSO. Came across this on DAA's site if anyone was in the same boat.

Well, broke her down again today for some more fine tuning. Turns out I missed some burrs around the safety lever. The safety is still firm but lots better now where I can manipulate it with my thumb. The added firmness is a result of the ejector springs on the sear cage causing the whole assembly to add friction on the safety pin.

Just lightly touched up the sear surfaces. Had some tool marks on 'em.

Bit the bullet and decided to blend the magwell. I didn't want to go spending a bunch more $$ for a better fitting magwell and grips.

Scribed the edges of the magwell and went from this...

Still looks good! being a Tanfo guy it’s actually nice to see the CZ’s have a lot of the same issues the Tanfo’s do, but they seem to get the trigger right from the get go unlike the Tanfo’s, looks good though! And what an age we live in where we still have to do our own work on 2,3,4 thousand dollar guns to get them right! Yet I have $600 poly striker guns that don’t require anything other than better sights!

Nice work, wish I had the skills to tackle that. I just live with the magwell blend. My safety has always been pretty smooth, I only changed it by going to a Shadow extended safety and extra power safety detent spring.

Thanks. I guess ya got to pay $5K for premium stuff. You would think it would be easier for them or the company making the magwells to alter the measurements on their milling machines or whatever they are using to make 'em? If they were cast, I can see it being an issue retooling molds.

I found out later after some fitting parts that the right side lever was rubbing against the frame. Grrr! Had to go remove some material to the backside of the lever. I want an extended right side eventually. Too bad they don't sell just the arm by itself instead of the whole left/right sides.

Sorry you got a bad one. I've had zero issues with mine, has run like a Champ from the get go. Things sell cheap for a reason.

Nice job on the magwell blend. I personally don't find it an issue. I have to come at it with a serious F'd up angle for the mag to hang up.

My Tanfoglio xtrem has a very good light trigger out of the box new like my TSO but the Tanfoglio feels better in my hands
I had no mods done on the Tanfoglio 2016 .40 everything was perfect so I just added the thumb rest

TSO .40 mods : blending job, Safety swap for a extended one (shadow2)

The Tanfoglio Xtrem 9mm 2017 blue grips has a heavier trigger vs the 2016 silver grips I got this one used from a guy maybe he changed the hammer spring!!

Damn nice collection there! Yeah, I guess I'd have to go to an Xtreme to get a nice trigger on the Tanfoglio. Yeah, the Tanfoglio grip is a little slimmer than the TSO.

The 2019 TSao comes with the Shadow 2 safety installed and an aluminum trigger now instead of the plastic one... at least the trigger looks like AL in mine.

Got some loot today. Some Springer Precision base pads, some more 40SW mags and a 9mm TS barrel. A nice bonus to buying the 40SW model is being able to use a 9mm barrel.

A little bit of fitting was required for the barrel.

I ran some dummy rounds through it and it feeds with no hitches. Lockup is nice and solid. Heck, there's less play in the bushing than the stock 40SW barrel. The true test would be at the range. But for now, I have a multi-caliber TSO. (9mm and 40SW).

Trinimon, nice! The polishing on the barrel of the TSO properly made the fit not as tight. Let me know how well the 9mm shoots, did you get it from Wolverine?

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Not sure if the factory barrel is hard chromed or just polished. Wolverine was the only guys who had the barrel in stock so I ended up paying a bit of a premium but free shipping took some sting out.
