After how many rounds should a magazine be usually cleaned? and how the heck do you get the factory 10 round mags apart. My booklet shows how to take apart the regular full capacity magazines, but does'nt even have a picture of the Canadian magazines. I don't want to force something, so I thought I would ask. The mags that I have are hollow plastic at the bottom, and they appear as if they could just slide off, but they don't. Is there something that I should be bending first ?

Push the little pinhole with a punch or screwdriver and slide the plastic bottom off while maintaining pressure to stop the spring from flinging out. The mag base will only slide of in one direction. Make sure to note which direction the spring base is facing.

Clean

Reassemble.

If you haven't already found out by now you'll also want to hold your thumb over the opening as the plastic base is slid out towards the rear. That'll keep the spring and locking plate from hitting you in the face :D

And yeah, there's a small hole deep in the opening of the plastic base plate. Push that in with something pokey while pressuring the base to the rear with your other thumb and it comes apart easily.

When reassembling be sure to check that the base locks back onto that lock plate pin. If it doesn't you may need to work the plate around until you get it to click into place.

I don't do mine as often as I should when shooting in clean conditions but I certainly do them if I use them where it's muddy or sandy.

Clean them when I have lots of time rather than by round count. I always wear safety glasses when working on spring loaded stuff.

take the factory 10 rounders, put them in a box, and lose it. then buy some pinned standard capacity mags. You will never ever, want to go back to the hassle of reassembling the factory 10s again.
