I have a few questions about the CZ75b, I tried the search functionality but couldn't find what I was looking for. Right now I own a baby eagle 9mm and love it, but I want to start reloading and it has a polygonal barrel. If I could get a conventional rifled barrel for this gun, I'd be in heaven, but I looked tonight for 4 hours and turned up nothing. This leads me to look at the gun the baby eagle was patterned after, the CZ75b.

Here are my questions:

    1. The pistol comes with conventional rifling, but can polygonal aftermarkets be purchased in case I want to shoot JHP's?
    2. Can 9mm down barrels be found in Canada so I can shoot .40S&W and 9mm?
    3. Is the .22lr Kadet kit as accurate as a $649 pistol?
    4. Do the 40S&W magazines feed and cycle in 9mm models?
    5. Is the hammer SA/DA or do you have to manually #### it?
    6. Does the finish wear as easy as the baby eagle when used with a holster?
    7. Are the grips as small as the baby eagle? My hand fits it perfectly and that's the main reason I bought it.

I'm going to be using this for IPSC and paper punching (obviously) so the sights will be the first thing to get upgraded. I'm looking more for experienced comments rather than opinions so if you own a CZ75b please help me out. This is quite the purchase because if possible, I'm going to purchase one in .40S&W with a 9mm down barrel and .22lr Kadet kit. I'll probably purchase an additional 3 .40S&W magazines. Along with a few upgrades I'll probably be staring down close to $2k

Also, if you're looking to purchase a single owner baby eagle with less than 1000 rounds through it, give me a shout.

1. you can shoot any type - lead, FMJ, JHP bullets with 75B;
2. hardly
3. yes
4. yes, but if you wanna use .40 mags with 9mm ammo in 9mm 75B, you need to tweak mag lips, wouldn't recommend it; you'll most likely ruin mags;
5. it is DA/SA, hammer can be cocked manually;
6. pretty durable, but any finish will wear with any type of holster;
7. very comparable, should feel quite same

Personally, I'd recommend going with just 9mm 85 Combat as you can use it in IPSC Production and IDPA and it has no FPB, better trigger, ambi, adjustable rear sight to start with; you can get sights replaced for FO front and say Tactical (comparable with Competition one) rear later
Later, if you gonna go with IPSC Standard, get Tact. Sport in .40 if you like CZs.
Skip Kadet kit and instead go with better progressive reloading press. GET SOMEBODY to show you the ropes in reloading!!!!!

My question is if you are mainly buying for ipsc, then why don't you just go and get a Shadow? Especially since you are planning to change the sights anyways.

You would end up spending far more to make a 75 to Shadow's specs bnib.

better trigger, no fpb, fo/novak sights, no de-cocker, ambi safety, increased muzzle weight. etc...

Just my thoughts..

Oh, and I think you are confusing jhp with lead bullets. AFIK the big G guys are the only ones who specifically 'prohibit' the use of lead with their barrels. (although many here have had no problem doing so.....)

Your Baby Eagle will be fine with any type of bullet, so you don't really need to switch if you are happy with it.

I don't think you can get conversion barrels for the CZ 75. The .40 versions have a different top end assembly with a heavier slide and full-length guide rod. I don't know if you can get separate top end assemblies for CZs the way you can for Tanfoglios, but you could try calling London Arms. They are the Canadian CZ distributor and also carry parts.

You don't NEED polygonal rifling to shoot jacketed bullets. Jacketed rounds shoot just fine out of regular style land and groove rifling which just happen to be cast lead friendly as well.

And I also agree with the others that suggest you reload using jacketed bullets and just use your Baby Eagle...... unless you're just after an excuse to get another gun.... :D
