CZ75b Shadow Line vs. CZ75 SP-01 Shadow
I'm virtually certain I want the CZ75 SP-01 Shadow, but if I were given the chance to buy the Shadow Line at the same money, or less, what are people's thoughts. I've seen a lot of positive talk on the SP01 Shadow... can't find a lot on the B Shadow Line.

Think of it as a 'if money were no object' kind of question. Basically wondering if the 75b Shadow Line is every bit the gun the SP01 Shadow is. I've had some people say it isn't worth 'the difference...'

I might be wrong, but there is no such thing as a CZ 75B Shadowline. But there is a CZ 75 Shadowline which is the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadowline's twin brother with a short dust cover against a FLDC for the SP01. They share the same internals plus thin Al grips, FO front sight and the SP01 rear sight. New Hammer and the best upgrade so far, a nicer trigger compared to an already good trigger from the regular SP01. Both does not use firing pin block. http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/79-pistols-cz.aspx I got my SP01 Shadowline last February from CRAFM. Back then, the difference is just about $ 50. Not anymore, blame our the dropping loonie. Both are fine guns. It all boils down to your preference. Most IPSC Production shooters might pick SP01, but some hardcore non-FLDC shooters will pick the lighter regular CZ 75 (non-SP01) version. If you are thinking of buying either one, you will not be disappointed. My advice: Do your research. Reviews are just for your reference. Do not go impulse buying because of a good review. Since you are in AB, try finding a range who has both of these pistols as rental guns. Try them the way you would use them. Grip should be close, sights identical, trigger pull might be identical. The only difference you will notice is the recoil because of the weight difference. My preference: CZ 75 SP01 Shadowline. I also happen to have a CZ 85 Combat satin nickel finish which I have no plans selling.

I think it boils down to whether you like the full dust cover/rail of the SP01 shadow more than the (slightly?) finer-tuned (trigger, barrel fitting?) and upgraded (hammer, aluminum grips, stainless guiderod) shadow-line. Technically the shadow line should be a more refined shooter (whether that translates into a practical difference I don't know), but you might just like the look and weight of the sp01 shadow more. The sp01 shadow is still a very nice shooter and can be upgraded later if you ever wanted to.

I just bought the Shadowline. The factory has tuned the trigger. With the 13# hammer spring the trigger is sweet. The Shadowline has very thin safeties, almost to thin but for IDPA or IPSC Production where you start hammer down the safeties are really not needed. I went with the Shadowline because I prefer the lighter gun and the balance of the non-FLDC CZ's. I can't imagine a reason why I would hang a light on a gun so for me that feature on a regular Shadow has no value. The gun will be my back up to my Soucie tuned 85 Combat. Once I get more rounds on the Shadowline the rioes will be reversed.

I paid $1,098+ tax from Canada ammo. Is it worth the $150 - $200 over a regular Shadow. ummmm not so sure. The Aluminum thin grips are very nice and the trigger is factory tuned and it comes with a new light competition hammer so I guess so. The reset is ridiculously short and coming off a season of revolver shooting it will be some time before I can take advantage of the reset. For shorter stages found in IDPA the lighter gun has some advantages. For IPSC with longer stages where you are often moving before shooting I might go with the regular Shadow.

Like ambishooter said try them both and go with the one you like. Both are outstanding guns, durable, reliable and accurate. My reasons for purchasing what I did may not be the reasons you would buy the gun.

ps The Shadowline features are items you will pay for if you go 75B or at least ones you may want. There is nothing wrong with the 75B either and is quite capable.

I'll take that as being the case. I'm new to the sport and I've found that consistent information on the shadow/shadow line pistols is tough to get.
Thanks for the feedback everybody.

Wellwe are spmewhat lucky in that regard. If you want to know what CZ.s are or should be available in Canada go to CZ UB website. DO NOT GO TO CZ USA site. CZ USA carries guns manufactured in the US and unless you want to import them into Canada via a Canadian retailer who does do import/export they are not available to us. FYI the guns I am referring to our those made by CZ Custom, most of which are not allowed in IPSC Production and some aren't in IDPA.

The correct name for the gun you are talking about is 75 Shadowline. Here is the link:

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I bought a new Shadow Line today... now just waiting on the paperwork. Found some for less than a new SP01 Shadow locally, $20 more than the best price for a SP01 Shadow online.

It is my first pistol, so just general range duty and working on discipline, consistency and accuracy. Might take a look at IPSC as well, would like to watch a few matches before diving in. I tend towards a competitive nature...

You are well on the way to being hooked, line and sinker! Definitely check out IPSC, you'll like it. Then check out 3gun, you'll like that too.
