Okay guys,, both CZ75B and the SP-01 are excellent guns,,my question to you is this..for general range, is there enough, (if any) of a performance diffenence between the two to justify the much higher price of the SP-01.
There's as much as a $200 after tax price difference between the two.

I Have a 75B, very reliable, never have any FTF or FTE problems. Shoot way better than I do. The stock sight and mag is not the great. SP 01 may be the best new breed of pistol out there if not. Mag and sight is better, gun is a little heavier and give you more control. Of course if you are looking for a nice range gun, 75B is a very good choice.

85 Combat may be another choice for you, the cost is right in between and it has adjustable rear sight and trigger. I'd say, go for 85 Combat.

All three mentioned here are good choices.

However, a gun can be a lifetime posession. $200 bucks ins't much over that time period.

There is VERY good reason why the SP01 has caught on so well in IPSC.

Whether you compete or not, the popularity of the pistol for competition sports mean it will make a great plinker, causal targeter, or competiton piece.

It is a next generation of the 75. The improvements, enhancements and changes are worth it in my books.

SP01 or 85 combat over the 75, for sure.

SP-01 is considerably heavier than C-75B, which results in much lower recoil. It also comes with night sights and ambi-safety or ambi-decocker.

how would you guys compare the sp-01 shadow vs the sig p226, for a range gun.

The 2-guns is not easy to compare, you are talking apples to orange........2-different frames, different make and different mechanism.... one costs more than the other... big price difference. Two different beasts....

PSSSSSSSSSSSSST!!!!!!!! BTW, you are hi-jacking johnnyreb65's thread. :p:p:p;);););):D:D:D:D:evil::evil::evil:

I am sorry Manley... I just cant help it... ;):p

Thanks guys,,all of your info was helpfull...
You're oppinions have made me do my research.
Decided on just getting the basic cz75b...

CZ85 and it's varients are ambidextious and have adjustable sights,,
adjustable sight in most cases aren't necessary for point and shoot close range shooting.

The BASE MODEL Sp-01 is basically a cz 75 with a dust cover.. Both are single/double action, ( although I here the sp01 shadow has a better tuned trigger) both have fixed open sights ( sp01 has night glow ), the major differences is the sp01 has a dust cover which adds wieght in the front and changes the recoil characteristics, and it utilizes a new manufacturing process.

The Sp-01 is definately a beauty,,but there are different models,, the sp-01,
sp-01 tactical, and the sp-01 shadow....The huge differencess are not between the CZ75B and the SP-01,, but between the CZ75B and the SP-01 shadow.. The price difference between those 2 is much more than $200..

$200 isn't much for something that last a lifetime true, and I'd agree if this would be my one and only purchase, problem is I've got many more guns on my list and cash becomes an issue.

As for the IPSC guys loving the SP-01,,I'm sure they're using the shadow or more likely the CZ75 Champion, CZ Tactical sport or the CZ75 Standard IPSC.

Again thanks to all you've forced me to do my homework.

the Tutone one is dead ###eh!

75 or sp01

Bought an SP01 for Production, liked it so much i bought a satin nickel 75b as a backup. i actually have more fun shooting the 75 as difference in recoil, while noticable, isn't significantly more than the sp01. the 75b is way more accurate than i can usually hold it and sights were dead on poa to poi.

I have owned the 75B (my first pistol, loved it), and shot the SP-01, and if I were in the market for a CZ 9mm again, I would buy the SP-01 hands down. The heavier weight, as well as its "front heavyness" made it very very easy to shoot accurately for me, and quick follow up shots were much more accurate than with the 75B. But both are fantastic pistols, and that is just my own personal observation the difference I noticed between the pistols when I was shooting them.

I answer both your posts at once,,,

This is great two people that have experience with both guns..

Cueball probably the most helpful post so far to me, an honest comparison.

Chip again an honest oppinion,,,

You've both pointed out that it all boils down to how each individual manages recoil..and how each individual feels comfortable with the weight and balance.
So it's an accurate gun,,it's all about how it feels and shoots for you.

The only knock I've heard about the sp01 is that it's weight makes it nose heavy it's a little larger and those with small hands would notice a diference.
Apparently the CZ 75 is more comfortable for a wider variety of people.

BTW do you have the base sp01 or the higher end versions?

WOW the two tone is ###y,,wish I saw this picture before I ordered...couldn't find a picture on the net so I ordered black.

A couple of other reasons why I like the SP01 better--the "beavertail" profile of the frame allows a higher grip than the regular CZ75 frame, and I've found the night sights on the SP01 bigger and easier to see than the sights on some recent CZ75's I've had a look at at the range. The muzzle heaviness is not that noticeable--it's not objectionable at all to me. I've got smallish hands and it fits fine for me, not as nice as a 1911 mind you, but certainly not noticeably different from the Glocks and USP's I've owned.

anyone who finds the grips thick on the SP01 should try the aluminum grip panels, they really thin the gun down.By the way I have both the SP01 (Regular one) and a CZ-75 pre B I love them both but the SP01 is more comfortable to shoot and both are just as reliable the SP01 has had the normal mods done for IPSC prod div, fwiw I have a Tanfoglio Stock II coming tomorrow too.

That's ok to hijack the thread,,I'm also interested in comparing the CZ to other 9mm's

To answer your question, CZ has every bit better than most of the guns in the market, reliable, accurate, price are in the lower range. solid built. if you are into other firearm forums, you will find that CZ is highy respected by a lot of shooters in the State while they can have more choice. most modern guns are also reliable and accurate, but they are way over priced espeically in Canada. The only draw back is the factory mag and sight is not that great but still serve you well enough. The other good choice at this price range is G17 and M&P.

johnnyreb65, how about a yes and no answer? If you want a pistol to hang things off the answer is yes. If you prefer the cleaner lines of the CZ75B the answer is no. I am in the later camp. Regards, Richard:D
