My rifle ( 858) is as far as I can tell, brand new. I have examined everything in great detail and I think it is completely new. The only thing that is not new is the mag pouch, but this is in very good condition. I am very pleased with what I got for my money.

i bought one. excellent rifle , especially for the money. they are not new. the recievers a re-machined. the spots where the date codes and old numbers have been milled off. on mine i found a '63' stamped into it with numbers different than anywhere else on it. doesn't matter to me. i still love it except for the bruise on my cheek everytime i shoot it. but i'm working on that........

Well Powerwagon .. I agree with you completely. I am running over to my machinist buddie's shop with pics and $$ in hand. I think that a good side mount for a holoscope should reduce the number of punches to my cheek!
Guys at work are starting to ask questions ...
What do you have planned anyway?

I can't understand why people are getting hit on the cheek, there is no problem with mine whatsoever.

PS !! Maybe that's because you have old second hand rifles and mine is new:D

Claven,

I don't know why you are taking all this 858 stuff so personally. Any discussion seems on these fine rifles (58s and 858s) seems to require a strong interjection on your part. I can tell you first hand, that no one directly connected with Wolverine has ever made comment to Marstars products. In fact, John does not operate that way at all and would take offense to the implication. To imply that Wolverine Supplies was bashing Marstar publicly is incorrect and irresponsible. You may feel that there are two "camps" in this issue but frankly who gives a damn. I don't own either, probably won't ever. People like what they have and are enjoying shooting them. Lets leave it at that. If someone from one "camp" makes comment on the other, it is incorrect to correlate that this is the opinion of either Marstar or Wolverine.

They are both great rifles. Enjoy shooting them. Cheers

Jeff
