CZ858-2. How would you rate them ?

Norinco ammo does have more flash but not because its "hotter", it's because it's cheap and has no flame retardents in the powder formula. The .223 stuff especially throws big fireballs at night. It is great stuff for plinking and is only mildly corrosive, if at all.

I know that the flash does not make it hotter, I am reffering to other factors. Have you ever chronoed it against Czech of the same year? The Norinco is faster by around 200fps or so. At least in the batches I have done.
About the corrosiveness of Norinco... well it isn't safe to say it is 100% non corrosive.. heres why:
People have occasionally ( time to time) reported rust after firing Norinco especially in the gas ports on the SKS.

I remember people #####ing about the Norinco ammo being dirty. Now people miss it when compared to Czech ammo. I wonder

Which people? What ammo? Brown cased or copper washed? State your sources please, I'm a doubting Thomas.

I've fired several thousand rounds from several batches of that stuff personally through several guns and never saw even a hint of rust anywhere.

Sounds to me like you buddies don't know F_CK ALL about firearms maintenance. Or is this a case where "your buddies" is really YOU?

Actionshooter/Czfan needs to post different stuff in different forums.
When you post the exact same stuff over and over, in the exact same forums (only posts in ammo/black rifles about VZ58 and 7.62x39 ammo) you give yourself away.......
What is this now, your 4th or 5th time back from being banned?
Anyway, my only thought on the VZ58/CZ858 is that they are both way overpriced for what they are.....they should be max $350 IMHO. The non-restricted version would be the better choice IMHO, why limit yourself to the range only over 3 inchs of barrel?

Just got the latest Access... This ad looks familiar. In fact, I remember Marstar publishing the exact same wording in their ad and certain "affiliated" board members ripping them a new A__Hole over it

History repeats itself, I guess...

Get ready for he letdown boys and girls...

We live in a world of lawyers where "new production" doesn't necessarily mean "brand new". If bit and pieces (new or old) are brought together to form a rifle, then it has been newly produced.

Caveat Emptor.

Was anyone really expecting a completely brand new, hot off the presses rifle?

Plus, at this point, we all know it will have a non-chromed barrel, and will be 'newly produced' from used parts.

Expectations are much lower than when Marstar originally released the restricted version.

I think $650 is a fair price for the rifle as sold, especially when you figure you get 5 mags, the bayo, the tool kit, etc etc.

At Marstar prices for the accessories:

4 5/30 rnd. Mags in 4 Mag Pouch $189.95
VZ-58 Bayonet w. Scabbard $49.95
VZ-58 Cleaning Kit $14.95
VZ-58 Sling (already comes with rifle) Y $9.95

So the rifle alone would cost $400

Take your run of the Mill SKS-D for about $250 market price (closer to $300 at some places)

Add in 4 AK magazines @ Marstar price of $50 each = $200

Add a cheapo AK mag pouch for $20, a crappy knife and scabbard for $20 and you are at about $500.

If you want the 'look cool factor' on the SKS-D you also have to buy a $100 Dragunov stock (for AK like coolness, guaranteed to impress your friends!).

That's $600 for SKS-D + Crap
or $650 for the 858 + Crap

All things considered, not a horrible deal.

Some of you just have to look at things more objectively.

Hey, I totally think the VZ58 pricing is fair and I even bought one! What I think is not fair is that people connected to Lever and Wolverine were among the fastest mud slingers when the VZ58S came, out accusing Marstar of untruthful advertising, etc. For a while here Marstar was made out to be the devil himself over the issue and that's the god's honest truth!

Then fast forward to a year later, Lever and Wolverine are offering essentially the same product (albeit with the trade-off of a non-chrome lined bore and +2 or 3 inches vs. being non-restricted) and running the VERY SAME ADVERTISING LANGUAGE that they jumped all over their competitor for.

I personally an crediting John and the Marstar people with ALOT of dignity that they have not been on here talking the same sh!t that was said about them a year ago.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth - except that some people (like Marstar in this instance) have chosen the high road. Bravo.

For the record, I have NO relationship to Marstar other than that I've bought guns and ammo there before, but then I've bought just as much stuff from Lever and to a lesser extent, Wolverine.

This is just one man's observations of the situation having been around CGN for a much longer time than many of you ;)

Marstar has been great to deal with other than one minor issue, service was quick and the shipping as quick as well. I am too not connected with MARSTAR other than I am a customer. I got a good deal on an VZ58 (CZH 2003) or what ever you want to call it.

Anyway claven2, Reece55 is the one I spoke to about his norinco experience. There are others at the local ranges here that can also tell you otherwise as well. My guess is that the humidity around here might have something to do with the rust forming. I don't know. I personally have never seen this in my SKS but I have seen dotty rusting after firing Czech in the gasports. *** the ammo type I am reffering to is I think the copper washed variety*** this I am pretty sure of. :? enough is enough?

At any rate Reece55 can enlighten you as to the properties I am which reffering to. There are others who have shot norinco who as well have noticed that NOT all norinco is non-corrosive, especially it seems some of the older boxes 70s.

Hey Hitzy I don't know you & you have a hard-on for me it seems! Think of it this way, You could pay the ohio ordinace price of $1300 USD for one of these VZ58's or $595 ( $650-670 tax and shipping included), make your pick. Stop with the hard done by rip off non-sense and give your head a shake! We are lucky to get them as they are in Canada.

ok, I must be reading wrong then. Anyway, give Reece55 a pm and I am sure he can descibe what happend in detail.
My guess is it might be 90's then? I agree with you on the VZ58s that MARSTAR was offering.. man they are fun and at such a good price.. who'd want to pay $1300USD for one that was "US tampered"

Upload your picture to a hosting sight like www.photobucket.com

Once it is uploaded, open up a message posting window here in 'nutz, click the img button, copy the link to the picture behind where it inserted the img tag and then click the img tag button again. Viola! A picture perfect picture posting.

My rifle ( 858) is as far as I can tell, brand new. I have examined everything in great detail and I think it is completely new. The only thing that is not new is the mag pouch, but this is in very good condition. I am very pleased with what I got for my money.
