Has anyone tried cutting a 5/30 mag down to make it a 5/10 rounder?? I have 8 of them so I'd like to give it a go,,just curious if anyone had any tips,pointers..The hardest part that I can for see would be the folds at the base of the mag. can't see paying 50 bones for one of the factory hack jobs
Cheers

... Also looking for a muzzle brake for one of my CZs, if you have one and are looking to sell it shoot me a PM.thanks

Actually the hardest part is cutting it down since the rivet must stay. The spring can be removed with a very long screw driver. It is easier to reinstall on a shortened mag.

Leave an extra 1/2" past the length of mag that you want. Cut it with an angle grinder. Drill holes in the side of the mag with the center of the hole in line with where you want the base of the mag to end up. You need the extra material removed to allow for the bend to end up at the right height to match the base plate and no gaps at the end. You will have to heat the metal prior to bending. If you do not heat it well the metal will crack. Use a propane torch or any other source of heat. The paint will discolor to white but this can be buffed off afterwards and the original color will return. Bend very little each time. Maybe 20 degrees max at a time with heating in-between bends. A bench vise can also be used to flatten the corrogations by tightening the vise. Complete this step prior to the full bend since it will need to be flat to put the bottom slide plate back on. You will also have to cut down the push plate that locks the bottom slide plate since it has to fit into the corrogations. Also, I would suggest using 1/2 the spring.

Practice once on the bottom part of the mag that you had cut off. Good luck.
