is there a trick to take it off ? the pin is removed, and i tried prying it off here and there but it doesnt come off, i'd like to keep the original piece, but i am not being gentle with it either ( changing to wood handle ).

thank you.

One mine the sides were held on by 2 washers with a pin that was swelled at each end to hold it together, much like a rivit. It can be drilled out, or punched out, if you punch just the pin.

A bit of a warning, the pressed red wood stuff might be glued as well, as it's 2 pieces. The wood handle I put on mine was 1 piece, and the holes did not line up at all. I was able to make it work, and glued it together, but it was more work then I originally expected.

I sure like the look now though, I think it's much better.

Can you get the nice blonde wood for the bayonet? I've got wood furniture on my rifle, but the bayonet I bought it still the ugly pressed plastic red things.
