Anyone have any links to any cz858 cleaning videos or websites....I know how to clean it but I'm just looking to make sure I'm not missing anything or different/faster techniques.
Thanks Cheers

i really think most people do it there own way, as long as you hit the right spots no method is bad, i rather not clean a rifle fast as i dont feel im doing a good job if i do.

This is the method I use when short on time.
I strip mine down, and put the gas rod, spring, and firing pin assembly in a plastic container. A trip to the laundry tub and a kettle full of hot water gets poured down the barrel, around the gas port, and into the plastic container full of parts. Drain the water and head back down to my shop to dry stuff off. I dry all the parts the best I can then spray with WD 40. The barrel and gas port get a shot of oil as well. Later on in the week when I get more time, I do a better job cleaning the barrel and re -oiling everything. If the firing pin seems dirty, I break it down for a good cleaning.
Never had a problem with rust.

If shooting non corrosive ammo then all I do is swab the barrel and maybe clean off the internals if they're really dirty. Generally just the barrel though.

Shooting corrosive, I thoroughly clean the barrel, till patches come out clean, I remove the muzzle brake, clean it and ensure the barrel threads and crown are clean. The one part that I find the corrosive ammo really hits hard is the crown if not properly cleaned. Hitting the gas port and piston isn't a bad idea.

Many people are more anal then me but... generally internals don't need a whole lot of attention. I clean them maybe every 500rds/month or so. I know of one shooter who in addition to dumping cases of surp ammo down the barrel only cleans the barrel and hasn't looked at the rest in cases of surp.

In short the barrel and crown are the most important when shooting corrosive ammo.

I fire corrosive ammo and spend a good hour cleaning my CZ 858. I completely strip it down to the innards. The piston and a couple other parts i run hot water on under the sink. I also dump hot water AND a bit of windex down the barrel at the sink (the wife HATES ME btw). Dry it all off with paper toweling. This step is for the salt in the ammo.
All other parts and surfaces, including the metal parts I washed in water, are swabed/rubbed down with Hopes 9 to disolve residue. Following this I use break-free on every part, leaving a film to keep the gun "greased and lubed".
I thought I was doing something wrong as it took so long but I read the manual and it said to do all the stuff I was doing.....pushing swabs of cloth into the hard to reach places with that metal thingy and being real "anal" about getting every part.
I dont disassemble the firing-pin part, I keep that entire unit together and just rub it down as best I can (too many small parts in there and i doubt they have much salt on them).

The barrel is the big one, if you leave the salt in there it gets pitted fast, so i always water/dry/hopes9(repeat hopes 9 till clean cloth comes)/dry/ break free

Thats what I do anyway :b

I bought a turkey baster from the dollar store to pour water down the barrel of mine.

Only shot it once, but I did a rinse of the barrel, gas piston with hot water, then breakfree'd the rest of the gun as I would normally.

Didn't get too anal swabbing the barrel of the gun, but I might do a quick look through to make sure it's ok.

I use my Shark steam cleaner on my Cz's, and SKS gets into every nook and cranny; then I put a light spray of lube on all the parts. I usually clean the barrel the same as any other of my guns, then shoot some steam down there to get it nice and clean.

i tried the windex thing it seems to work well, strip down the whole rifle and clean out the parts, light oil on all the internals. takes about an hour to clean for me, you should be thorough when you do it

With windex you have no need for boiling water.

Much much easier :D

1.) Dis-assemble

2.) Clean Corrosive Salts
Pour hot water or spray Windex or use corrosive cleaner on all parts that have carbon deposits on & wipe dry.

3.) Lube or Grease for storage
Run barrel cleaner down the pipe & scrub the bore. Use brake cleaner for the gas piston & spring, although I have heard that you can substitute WD40 in a pinch. I prefer grease but most like oil, so lube rail were you see wear & tear & don't froget the rear cover spring's. Although keep the gas assembly dry.

4.) Re-assemble
