How did you guys remove the screw holding the stock in place. The slot in the screw is about 3/4 of an inch long and the biggest driver I have is 1/4 of an inch. I am worried that I'll damage the screw. What did you guys use to get it out? Any tips?

a) bigger screwdriver from CT/Homedepot/Lowe/Rona for $6-$10 (I have 3/8 and it works just fine)
b) chisel
c) wood flat drill bit like second from bottom on the pic

You need a much bigger screwdriver! The one I use has a square shank long enough to stick out from the butt and I put a wrench on it the first time I removed the stock.
A 1/4" screwdriver will just ruin the slot in the bolt and cause problems.

The long screwdriver was necessary to remove the wood stock. To remove the folder the screwdriver need not be that long, just make sure the blade fits the slot in the bolt.

See if anyone you know has a tire iron with a flat tip on one end. I have an old one from Cdn Tire and it is a great fit and you can put some torque on the screw. I would put a torch to the screw first as well as my one folder had some serious thread locker on it.

Whoa - if the largest you have is 1/4" you may need to re-examine your tool inventory - and consider handing in your man-card ;)

But seriously I just used a big bit on an impact driver and it came out like butta.

Ok so I soaked it for a while with some penetrating oil and then went at it with my impact driver and when that failed I tried a 3/4 spade drill bit I made into a screw driver on the bench grinder. The drill bit snapped before it budged. I'm going to try to track down a tire iron....

Bingo ^^^^^

I bought a large socket that looked like a huge flat head screwdriver and it worked. Nothing else worked for me... something like this:
