Perhaps someone here can help me out. I just picked up a very cool 858 with barrel shroud (fake can) and optic, but the front sight was removed and not included. I want to pop in a bead on the front of the shroud to use irons as well, as the rear sight is intact.

Can someone with an 858 + set of calipers please get me the measurement of the height of the very top of the front sight from center of bore?

I can take if from there.

Much appreciated!

edit to add: height to top of front sight post, not the hood around it.

I got some numbers. Big thanks go out to Steiner:

"Looks approximately 42.38 to 43.07mm, center bore to top of front sight post."

This is enough to get me going, but if anyone has differing info then feel free to share :)

And how exactly are you going to zero the iron sights when only the front sight is adjustable on 858 but you will have a bead?

Im thinking to make an adjustable bead, a threaded post. Its easy, dont worry, i know what im doing (famous last words, i know).

The optic is not in line with the center of bore either. I will zero to 100 and use a little kentucky windage for other distances.

Ill take some pics soon...
