Cz858 prices to take a dive once type81's here.

The dealers got CZs for $150 US, so yeah price is a factor, especially when paying large prices with a credit card is viewed as 'living the dream.'

From what I hear "VZ's" ( I presume people accualy mean CZ but maybe its accualy the VZ, In Czech can be found for 100$ in whatever currency they are talking about on other forums ). I wonder is this is accualy true. Even in the USA CZ and VZ command a premium and sell for more then some stamped AK's.

I would really want to see what the cost is for the T81 and how much manufactures are making on thos. I wonder how much it costs them in china to retool and produce these things. Are the stock surplus are new production?

To the OP...keep on with the wishful thinking, the VZ is a world renowned firearm with a solid track record.

Here's what you get for starting such a delusional thread...

I recommend everyone to get a cz with the gremlin fixed (skip the csa and vz), get a SAN which all civvies versions are nicely done, get a type 81 if they don't muck it up in redesigning it to be semi (skip the t97 which is far from the qbz95-1 design).
Redirect our writing prowess for writing to our MPs regarding 10/22 mags.

Whatever happens with the Type 81, I believe the Vz58's days are numbered, at least as far as being more than a novelty item.

With surplus parts stocks drying up and a relatively high cost of production for new built components, it's increasing in price enough so that soon a lot of folks might figure to pass on it and save up for something else.

I can't think of a single case where that has happened. Look at M1 Garands...have not been made in 70 years, far better solutions are readily available and yet they sell for big $ every time. Marstar had some 7.62 Garands for $1800 and they sold out in days. The CZ 858 is by far and away the best 7.62x39 pattern rifle available in Canada, it is NOT likely to suddenly become the red haired step child of every gun owner's collection because a similar but likely inferior firearm has come onto the market.

Yo aint no one finna buy tha T81. Dis a chinese made look liek da AK. Da CZ be tha mo real AK and mo accurate. Da chinese gun worth bout tree fiddy and be fo da bustas

Lol more tre words of wisdom from Dirt BUT Dirt, how do you know what the accuracy is like from the T81 if there are almost no reviews on it!?!?!?!?!

Unlike the Garand, the Vz58 doesn't have much in the way of historical or technical significance. Even among NA gun people, most had not heard of it before it hit the local market.

One example I can think of a gun fading in market significance is the AK in the U.S. market; they used to be super dooper cheap in the wake of Communist collapse, now, not so much, especially for a good one.

Aside from the cost savings of shooting cheap 7.62x39 through cheap surplus mags they're no longer attractive from a price perspective. Most people now who are inclined to get a reasonably priced modern military style rifle would rather get an AR.

There are also an increasing number of more modern alternatives in 7.62x39, so its becoming somewhat of a niche. there are still a lot of them out there but new ones aren't selling anywhere near as quickly as they used to.

Vz's and CZ's are used in current conflicts. I was looking at pics of seized firearms by US military and even tho a majority are AK's, enfields, and other old surplus you can see piles of VZ's or CZ's. People just mistake them with AK's.

It's around, but there were only about 1 million produced, mass production ended a long time ago and it's never served as a large scale issue arm in any conflict unless you want to count Operation Danube.

Firstly there is a lot of speculation in this thread over what dealers pay for them but no evidence or sources to back those claims. Secondly the Type 97s biggest failure in my opinion was the conversion to take AR mags. I've seen far too many jams that are mainly caused by this. If they used original mags they would be harder to find but would likely work better.

Haha! I love these threads! I'll be very surprised if I can buy a 858 varient for under $1000 in the future. I love my norinco pistols and have high hopes for the type 81 but I have a hard time believing the type 81 will be a better rifle than the 858. To make the CZ prices drop it'll have to be a much better and cheaper rifle in every way. Even then, I can't see the 858's dropping that much. Here's hoping though!

Saying, Why would someone spend $1400 + on a Vz when they can spend $1000 on a type 81, is like saying, why would you spend $1500 on a Bushmaster AR when you can spend $800 on a Norinco AR.

Not sure if your joking or being sarcastic or I just misunderstood but If you had the money why would you buy a norinco AR over the Bushmaster?

And for the T81 vs VZ/CZ their differnt platforms, you should buy both imo. But then again I would by a springfield over the norc 305... Guess its preference but I don't see the benefit in buying the cheapest option when their are other considerations to the purchase other then price like Parts, Quality, warranty ext.
