CZ858/SA58 in 223 For Sale to Civilians in Czechoslovakia

I would love one of those. I would love it even more if there was a conversion to use AR15 magazines. Also, if it were non restricted.

There is one. Problem is once you get the rifle with magwell conversion etc could you have just baught an AR? The rifles going to the US have 16" barrels so unless they do a special 18.5" one for us there is really no benefit. Other then its kinda cool.

good points. The biggest benifit i see to having one is that some of us are putting in a ton of time getting comfortable with this system. If NARCAN is some how able to shutdown the supply of surplus 7.62, the current 858's in Canada are pretty much reduced to being used as conversation pieces or clubs. a .223 version would allow us to continue using the 858 platform as there is alot of domestic .223 and the supply will never be shut down.

New production 7.62 short is plentiful and certainly not more expensive then comparable .223, there is just no demand for it in Canada with the surplus available. In fact just finding .223 in stores for less then $1 per round now is difficult. Add to that the barrels are 1 in 7 twist so your gonna want to be hunting for 6x-7x gr bullets which I haven't seen readily available in stores for as long as I can remember. This rifle will I'm sure sell in Canada but never even close to the level of demand that currently exists for the 858-2 now. There are other restricted options in the $1000 price range that already compete. The US market is another story.

If you want to subscribe to that line of thinking then I think the RCMP will shut down the ownership of the platform long before the supply of ammo dries up. The way things are going now the ownership of semi auto rifles in Canada may not survive the next change in government least of all the scary looking ones. All that said, buying guns in anticipation of what may or may not be legislated out of existence is kinda silly. Buy what you can, when you can and fight to keep it. Never live in fear of your government.
