which would be the best, both in .223 have a chance to get either one and don't know which would be the best for the $$

they will both do the job. I have both.
Quality wise, the vz58, in my humble opinion is far superior to the su-16.
The SU is a fun plinker, but the VZ actually "feels" like you bought a hardened military rifle, instead of a airsoft rifle...
These are simply my thoughts, having owned both of them..
 
If you have need for a rifle that can be folded neatly in half and backpacked easily? Then SU16. Otherwise, the VZ58/CZ858 is a military platform and a lot hardier.
 
I own both. Quality wise, the VZ-58 wins hands down. BUT, I have the VZ-58 in 7.62, I feel that's what the firearm was designed for and wouldn't feel comfortable shooting .223 through it.

I really enjoy my SU-16, I put a Burris AR-336 on it and it's more accurate than I expected. But if the zombies start coming, I'm reaching for my VZ.
 
I had both, CZ is in 7.62x39, kept the CZ and got rid of the SU 16. After 5 rounds the keltec would start heat stringing shots all over, around 18" from point of aim to the right and 9" high! CZ just keeps on hitting home over and over, even when the barrel is hot. I would have no qualms about shooting the CZ in the winter either, SU 16 would make me think twice about shooting in sub zero temps.
 
I love my Cz but in 7.62, I also love my SU16. If its a choice of only these too rifles in .223 I throw my vote in for the Su16. 10 round mags, light weight, easy optics mounting(no ones mentioned that yet) just a fun little rifle. You can't go wrong with either.

The SU-16 is fun, plain and simple. Easy to use, easy to maintain, fun to shoot. That being said, the quality just isn't there in comparison to the CZ. My first impression upon picking up the Kel-Tec was "wow, this thing feels like a toy!", and it does. I bought it anyways due to a good deal and the tacticool factor, and for the most part haven't regretted it.

...It did blow up a few months later, but I suppose that's the risk you take in purchasing a plastic rifle. :p


I will be keeping the SU-16 when it is returned to me, but if I were to make the choice again, I would probably go for the CZ. Just my .02c.

It blew up?! Please explain??? Who's fixing it, Vault?

Still on the fence with the SU16.
 
Mine blew up too. Receiver cracked from being hit by the unstaked firing pin was the explanation. Vault replaced it without any fuss and explained it was an early run and later runs did not have that problem. I did not choose to wager anything on that claim so I traded mine away. It was a fun gun when it was non-broken. That was more than a year ago.
 
An early run of a rifle that's been sold for how long in the states?
It's almost like Canada is getting factory seconds, while paying double. Total speculation, but the things I keep hearing are discouraging. Mine continues to work though. But I haven't find it grouping worth a damn @ 100yrds yet. Still trying different ammo.
 
lone-wolf, I've never met anyone who had the same problem as mine and the Vault guy said mine was only one of two that he had dealt with personally with the same issue. So take that for what it's worth.
 
For the easy cleaning ect go the CZ accuracy not sure haven't shot in in 223 The 7.62x39 non resticted with a chromeline barrel that I used to own worked well but the accuracy was garbage with the chromelined barrel the steel barrel was much better but depends on what you want.
