Just bought another cz, It's the 97BD in 45 acp, gun seems slimmer and not as wide front to back of grip compared to older 97 model. I wasn't liking my HK USP 45plastic gun and now I am leaning towards hating it. I don't know why I wasted the money on the HK to start with but hey, I guess that's why people still buy a Mercedes when the BMW looks and drives better for less? Anyways, the 97 has a neat loaded round indicator on top of the barrel, a decock, night sights, rubber grips and one hell of a ###y feel to it, all for $800.00 new. If anything, I may put a lighter hammer spring into it as I did with my shadow. My CZ shadow has done nothing but put a huge smile on my face everytime I shoot it and I fully anticipate the 97 doing the same for me for many years to come.:dancingbanana:

Yeah I really liked my '97 but it had to go to make room for my Colt!

I would be interested in the decock version if it does have slimmer grips (only gripe w/ mine) I realize it is a double stack .45, so difference won't be that much but every little bit helps..

Can you post some pics?- I haven't seen one in person yet..

Congrats! I really believe it is an underrated gun and more people should look into them especially if it fits their hand.

BTW, H&K's are never wastes of money... you hurt my P30L's feelings...

I will take your hated USP off your hands for... say,.... $50?

j/k..ha

HKs are good guns, just good, nothing special...
One could have same performance, reliability, durability, ergoes and so on for way less money...

google the 97bd and you will see lots of pics, it's the one with black rubber grips. The gun is considerably narrower over the older wood grip version. Overall, the gun has sleek, slim lines for a 45. Nice tapered look and feel to it.

Ok I was finally able to get this bad boy to the range tonight, not easy being a single dad. Anyways, very light recoil with minimal muzzle lift. I took my 40 cal beretta tonight as well and it made the cz feel like a 9mm. Very smooth gun, very accurate. Enjoyable to hold and fire. Only gripe, stock main spring is heavy(easy fix) leading to a heavy trigger and sear could use some cleaning up. Shot very accurately when taking my time. Some minor adjustments and she will be firing fast shot strings accurately. At this time, the re-set time between shots was not good due to the heavy trigger. Love this gun and can't wait to try it with lighter springs, my shadow now has an older brother. Kind of like doing twins I guess.

Thinking seriously about having the serial number moved on the frame and cutting back the dust cover to make the gun legal for IDPA. Mine is scary accurate. For around $800 the gun will put a lot of high end 1911's to shame when it comes to accuracy.

Take Care

Bob
