czc 858 feed issue

Are you riding the bolt forward or letting 'er slam home? Riding the bolt forward will always result in feeding issues.

Isn't there suppose to have a magwell if its been converted to 7.62x39 XCR magazines? You're pictures show just a regular Vz 58 7.62x39 magazine.

Do note that your gun is CZ 858 and not a CSA Vz 58 so if you send the rifle off to Movie Arms, you will be charged for the repairs rather then have warranty cover it.

There were problems with some of the rifles that were machined to take the pistol mags. Sounds like you need some service. This is one of the reasons why I didn't have mine modified for 10rd capacity.

The good thing about an AR15 is that the 10rd pistol mags are direct fit, without an adapter. I love my VZ58 but I didn't want to machine it and risk messing it up.

I presume it's the B&T magwell adapter? Have you been able to check if the machining was done as per the B&T specs? The adapter on mine works great.

Just out of curiousity, why would you switch back to the 5 rounders if you have the adapter and xcr mags??

I had the identical problem with the B&T adapter. I took it to a local gunsmith who did a great job and the solution was twofold. First, a tiny bit of shaving / re-angling to the feed ramp that the hack fitment at wolverine messed up. But the bigger adjustment was made with the magwell mag-catch/release. The dimple that falls into the slot on the xcr mags needs to be moved up (re-welded) which allows the magazine to sit higher once it locks in. My mags now sit high and tight against the rails and this mod removed the slop that was there when the mags locked in before.
All in all it cost me another hundred bucks and was totally worth it. 700 rounds later not one failure to feed. I love having the ten round capacity.
Best of luck with it.

i switch between the 2 mag types and tried both. it does it with both types. but... letting it slam does seem to make it work better. ill try cleaning it out even more and examining it closer. the gun was modified before i bought it.

just gives me a reason to buy another gun >:)

Just send it to movies arms. Mine did the same thing but they replaced it with a new one which hadn't given me any problems.

Again why people Upgraded CZ 858 VZ 58 should be inspected before purchased hell any rifle modified. I have seen so much I refuse to buy modified firearms now. I had to rebuild a whole K98 someone tweaked. The prices for bubbabed CZ 858 are not worth the hassle if u ask me. Just buy a non molested

But yes find a Competant Gun Smith if ur lucky like me I have a Chezh Gun Smith from Soviet USSR era great to get tips from and info from.

Hey KidGlock. I'm in north vancouver and the gunsmith I mentioned is a local film and tv armourer. I don't know him well, got hooked up by a mutual friend. If you are in the area I could get in touch with him for you. I get the impression that his main gig is doing custom builds and this kind of tinkering is a sideline.
Let me know...

I believe that some one on another site already answered this question for you but you do have a point about the 5/30 rounders looking nicer and also make for a nice shooting mono-pod in the bush ;)
