Does anybody else find the current batch of Czech Surplus 7.62x39 FMJ ammo (1200 rd case) extremely dirty? Myself and the bro sent 300 rds downrange today, came home and had to totally strip the SKS's. The bolt, bolt carrier, receiver, and entire gas system was full of soot,not to mention the barrel. Looks like when this case of FMJ is gone it'll be nothing but soft point S&B here. Cheers, and I hope you all had a happy Canada Day. By the way, the ammo is dated '91.
 
Its always been dirty, but thats the price you pay for shooting cheap ammo. And personally i would much rather buy cheap ammo and clean then spurge on ammo thats more than 2x the price
 
Soot.. Dear god man...:rolleyes: When S&B can be had for anything near the price of surplus ammo please let me know.In the meantime shoot your surplus, clean your gun and don't worry about it.
 
i wouldnt compain about the dirty rounds. what other centerfire rifle round would you find at a similar price?
its ok to do a bit of cleaning
 
$0.17/round vs $1.00/round...not a hard decision.

Putting it into perspective. You shot 300 rounds today...so the $250 you saved by shooting surplus, could buy you another SKS.

Not too bad for a little bit of effort. :)
 
It s a bit dirty, but it is more accurate then norinco non-corrosive. My normal load during one shooting session is about 200, after Czech stuff my CZ needs some cleaning
 
speaking of Czech surplus, does anyone know where to pick some up in Ottawa?

I think I might saw some at lebaron @ 218 / 1200rnds.
