Czech these markings out

I concur. It is obviously an alien rifle.

Does it go ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPP!
when fired?

DO NOT FIRE THIS RIFFLE!

Dismantle in parts and ship it to me for safe disposal.R:d:

Seriously tho, thats's my first VZ-24 with such markings that i have seen, and i have seen quite a few of them, but then again,i'm no cz-24 expert, just a cz and Tok nut!

Those are strange markings. Can you get some better pictures of them and post them on here please. They look like they might be markings for refering to the constelations of stars for night navigation. Maybe Inuit writing. Who knows. Id just like to research it if no one can find an answer

Ok here is the pics that Ikedaboy has been waiting so long for.
The rifle is now back together. It's a sort of rare bird in the fact that it is an IDF K98k but it is still in the original 8x57. Under the butt plate there is a '53, year of production? ( of the stock?).
A very well used arm, I'm sure many generations of Kibbutznicks stood watch with this piece. I include in the pics some of the Israeli graffitti that has been carved and scratched in to the stock. Can anyone read Hebrew? Trying to get a good shot of the barrel mystery marks was difficult so wrote them out by hand.
Any comments on the rifle are welcome, when I got her she was in rough shape so I clean her up and gave here new coat of oil on the stock. I left the sight hood on but can anyone verify if in the early days of the IDF, was the K98 standardized with sight hoods? I know that by the time of the Nato conversion sight hoods were installed.

I am looking forward to what you find out about the markings. I am a big fan of the IDF, militarily speaking, finding what you are looking for can be difficult. Israel is very tight lipped about her forces and even obsolete equipment. When Tom Gannon was writing his excellent book on the Israeli Shermans he said that it was sometimes hard to get info the official way because there were still some things that are classified about the Shermans in Israeli service!!

What I've found so far is that is it leaning towards a phoenician script. It is mixed with (I think) Futhark and Berber. Mostly phoenician however. I'm still looking for more definate answers as to what it says. I think this will take me a little bit to find some answers.
