Ive owned the dirty bugger for about 1 1/2 years, and didnt have a problem for about a year. Then one day while i was shooting surplus ammo it jammed, failed to eject a spent round. The action was stuck forward jammed tight. I grabed a small pc. of wood and tapped on the handle to try and get the shell out. After i managed to get the action open, i could see that the spent shell was jammed in the breach with about 1/8" of the shell was sticking out. That ended that day of shooting and later at home that shell was a bastard to remove. I figured it to be a faulty surplus round. it didnt do it again for about a month or two.............now i cant shoot it without it happening. It seems to do it at random. I can fire a few rounds then it jams. Ive always taken care with cleaning, is it the ammo?, or the weapon. Any ideas would help, and i hope i get good news. thanks

I would try cleaning your chamber with solvent. Get in there as much as you can and scrub it out till your rags come out clean, sometimes buildup of gunk can cause this especially with corrosive ammo.

I had the same problem with my CZ 858. Check the bottom of the bolt carrier very carefully and see if there is any metal broken. I needed to take mine back and get it replaced with a new one. Works like a charm ever since. If you can post some pic's of the bolt carrier underside I could explain it better.

sounds like i had the same issue...a really good cleaning and polish worked for me....
check out my post for photos to see if same thing happened to you, hope you get it fixed

Most steel cased surplus ammo has a preservative lacquer on the outside of the casing. This builds up in your chamber after a fair amount of shooting. Especially when the gun gets hot it will lodge the casing in the chamber and the extractor will not have enough jam to pull it out. As Suprathepeg had mentioned earlier a good solvent in there to clean it out is necessary. Use a copper chamber brush as well to really scrub out the lacquer and you should be fine. We have had these issues shooting steel cased .223 Wolf ammo in our AR's before.

Cheers.

Wow.. this just happened to me yesterday.

The empty casing is stuck in the chamber and I have been unable to get it out. The extractor broke off the "lip" of the casing where it normally grabs it.

I tried pliers on the casing to loosen it but I just chewed up the casing even more. What is the best way to remove it? I thought about using a wooden dowel down the barrel to push the casing out, but was not sure if this was a good idea.

brass rod down the barrel and pound it out. This is the reason a chamber brush exists. Make sure when you clean the gun you scrub the chamber as well.

Sounds good, thanks.

I tend to keep my firearms very clean, but this is the first gun I have owned where I used surplus ammo. I have never had a casing "glued" in like this before.

I had always been more paranoid about removing corrosive residue and never even thought about melted laquer or whatever this is. But from now on I will be extra vigilent with the chamber.

Every gun needs it's chamber and locking lugs cleaned to keep it reliable.

A pistol brush and some acetone or nitro-solvent will sort out any residue in the chamber.

I had the same thing this weekend. You just need to remove the gunk. I think I've said this already but just use a 12ga. bore brush and clean the chamber till its clean like the bore. :D

I find it to be a rather embarassing problem.

It is like taking your car to a garage when the engine fails, and the mechanic asks you when was the last time you changed the oil, and you reply "Cars need oil?"

Like I said, I always thought I did a decent enough job cleaning my rifles, but for this to happen it is obvious I wasn't giving the chamber the attention it needed.

mr_trout atleast you now know what the problem is and can correct it in the future. Saddly this is another downside to such cheap plinking fun.
Ahhh...
I am still waiting & wishing for the day of cheap ammo from China, to one day make it's way back across the ocean again.

Don't feel too bad the Chamber can be hard to get to.
