I was helping out at a BB course this past weekend. One of the students (a shooter from Hart House) was using my CZ-85Combat, shooting (for price reasons) the Wolf lead reloads (9mm). She was struggling just a little bit, which brought the round count up, and by middle of the second day, after about 1500 rounds (this includes what I've shot through it, before the course) since last cleaning, the gun started to ... not function correctly. It wouldn't load rounds anymore - I'm guessing the buildup of CRAP was just too much for it.

Had to take it aside to the safety area, gave it a quick cleaning and oiling, and it worked like a charm for the rest of the day/course.

So, I guess I can't claim that I can fire 10,000 rounds through my gun without cleaning, and have it work fine. Ohh, boo... So I'll clean it after each match

Was it malfunctioning wile you were shooting, or the lady? She could have been limp wristing it a bit... but 1500 rounds is enough lol... How is the copper fowling situation with that many rounds?

Whats the best going price on a 85C? I want one so bad  I also want a 590a1... but I can't decide wich I want more, so I will probably get neither.

A new 85C is $730, taxes in, from info@gunsnthings.com I highly recommend him, great guy to deal with.

Re limp wristing it - possible, but unlikely. this was about half way through the second day of shooting, and after I cleaned it, no problems.

Hmmm... I don't know re mags. The factory mags are black/blued, as are the Promags I tend to use. I did have my 85C chromed, so it IS nice and shiny... Plus, you can get it from factory with a shiny finish. I never thought about the mags.

funny..in that situation I usually get BOTH

Between the two I'd prolly prefer the 590...simply because I prefer shotties to handguns.

I usually clean the gun with a bore brush after one or two matches of IPSC. A full cleaning with major dissasemble comes once or twice a year.

As for the mags, Promag mags can be had in black or nickel finish. Same price from the manufacture.

Okay Omen...ENOUGH is ENOUGH

Please post a pic....of the student

No one wants to see or hear about your filthy gun :!:

Guelph this week-end?
