:D Supernova first outing!

My PAL arrived in the mailbox earlier this week, after a not-too-painful wait. I immediately went and picked my brand-spankin' new Benelli Supernova that I had bought the week previous :dancingbanana:

Tonight I took her out for the very first time - I went with a buddy of mine to shoot a round of 50 sporting clays at the local club :D

I am soooo happy that I decided to step up to the Benelli instead of the 870 express I had originally planned. She handles like a dream, and I hit 4/5 at the first station. This was my first time ever shooting clays, and I had only fired a shotgun once before.

I finished the round breaking 22/50, not too shabby for a newb. I still haven't managed to get the smile off my face :D I love my Supernova!
 
Benelli

Hi Guys,

I have a Benelli Nova and a Benelli H2O (nickle version) and love them both.

I am currious, what is the difference with the "SUPER" Nova? Both the Nova and H2O shotguns I have will take 3½" shells. Is there some other difference?

I have the mercury recoil reducers in both and a mag extension on the NOVA.

I will probably never get a mag extension for the H2O. I have looked for years, but none seem available.

Actually, why is the Nova pump so expensive in Canada? Americans can buy them from around $379 which is not that much more than an 870 Express, but on the other hand they can get Expresses at $275 with rebates included.

I cannot see myself putting down $500 for the Nova, when our neighbours south of the border can get it for $100 or more cheaper. I'd look in the used market for a cheap one since if they live up to their durability, it shouldn't really matter should it?

Just curious, howcome you didn't look at the Browning BPS, Ithaca 37, Winchester Speed Pump, Stoger, Weatherby pumps?
 
i had a nova and then upgraded to a supernova which has a pistol grip stock and ghost ring sights, they both function flawlessly.

The Supernova has a recoil reducing comfort-tech stock, a larger trigger guard to fit gloved fingers, and a larger safety button. The receiver and stock are two parts to allow swapping of stocks. The receiver is all beefed up width-wise so it's a little thicker. I personally prefer the looks of the regular Nova, but I wish they put that cool looking SBE-style trigger guard on it. Oh and the Supernova doesn't have the infamous rattling forearm, but I hear Benelli has fixed that on the Novas now. That's all I can think of for now... It may be heavier too..

I wound up with the Supernova for a couple of reasons:

- I wanted to buy a shotgun that would last a very long time, with little to no factory repair work required (IE I want to be able to maintain it myself).

- I wanted to buy from my local shop, since this is my first firearm I wanted to have some local resources to rely on. Shops are more willing to help you with your questions if you bought from them.

- The Supernova just fit me, and I was very confident in the quality after handling it in the store. I'm even more confident, having just stripped it down. The construction is beautiful and simple (see my earlier point about wanting to be able to maintain it myself). I'm willing to pay for good, simple engineering. The fact that I can completely strip the gun in the field, without tools, is a HUGE bonus!

- A friend of mine own a SBE II, so I had an idea of the Benelli quality, and I liked the feel of the comfortech system.
