I am looking to buy defender type pump shotgun and need your opinion on which one suits you better as a shotgun and you can swear by.

I looked at Winchester Defender 8-shoots - 22"
Remington -18"
Mossber Turkey Tactical - 20"
Benelli Nova -18.5"

Some of them come with chokes like Win and Mossy and Benelli and Remington with fixed bbl.

What is your advice.
I will use shotgun for "imaginary" protection in bear country, for fun shooting, maybe in the future for IPSC, three gun.

Can't go wrong with an 870, as was said.

Having said that - i noticed reliable gun and tackle has nice winnie 1300's defenders on for 400 bucks :) Synth stock, but slingstuds and the extended mag.

100% buy an 870 ive got 3 of them
they can get lots of other things for the 870 when you feel you need to.
Its the 1911 of the shotgun world.

PeterPan,

I personally went "nuts" trying to buy that perfect SG that would fill all my wants and needs. I kept jumping from one maker to another and back. All the makers offered something different (sights, stocks, finish, etc.)

I went from Rem's to Mossy to Wins to Italian and even Chinese. It all came down to what I would use it for most....and that is Shot gun action & targets.
In the end, I ordered the 14" Fabarm Martial Composite with regular stock and bead sight (always been comfortable with both features)

So it probably comes down to your budget, use, and what looks/feels right for you.

Enjoy "shopping" (I know I did:) ), and good luck!

heh. yeah. half the fun is deciding which gun. Keeps a good gun owner up at nights :)

What!!! Were suppose to sleep?

870 as stated is the 1911 of shotguns. Lots of aftermarket parts. I personally run a Mossberg 500, because it fits me better. Try all the shotguns you can and see what fits you.

:)

I forgot to mention the OTHER half of the fun is shooting them. And the OTHER half on top of that is arguing with everyone else about whether your gun is better than some other gun.

Guns are therefore actually 150 percent fun! That's what the anti's just don't get. :)

Thanks guys,
have anybody have been using Mosseberg 835 Turkey Tactical?

PeterPan, if you like the SG, feels good in your hands and the price meets your budget, then you don't need anyone's opinion.

But since you're asking...I just don't understand the concept of a turkey tactical SG and personally it wouldn't look right in "my" collection.

Yeah. Me too. Mind you, both of us are going to look pretty damn stupid if we're ever set upon by a flock of ninja-turkeys.

Peter - get what you like :) around here bolt rifles are king, but i really liked the look and feel of a 7600 pump so thats what i bought for a hunting gun. Sure i get ribbed all the time but i like it and it brings home the meat pretty regular :) A gun is a personal choice.

Love my 870, wouldn't trade it for any other shotgun (well except for maybe a Benelli M3 or M4...or a Spas-12...or maybe a select-fire USAS-12).

that tac turkey is funny but you might as well get the gun that feels good to you first then tac it out.

besides a Knoxx or speedfeed stock would be much better.

I have had my 1300 for 12 years with no missfires or missfeeds and wouldnt trade it for anything

D

Thanks again for your valid comments.

What I like about that Mossy is all extras added to the gun and idea of chokes.
I can buy plain Jane Rem870 for 350 but then when I start adding it will well go pass 700-800 bucks.

Thanks

Peter

Are you frakkin' kidding me? That's HILARIOUS :) a tactical turkey gun.. it says "i can hunt or i can combat insurgents in the woods' all at the same time :)
Shhh It gives us an excuse so the lieberals can't ban it as a evil mass destraction gun from hell.It is designed to tacticaly kill the dangerous and agile turkey.
