D4064 now available, 5lbs/$130

Anybody having success with this in an m305 as well as short barrel AR?

It would be a great burn rate for the M14 platform. AR's are not so fussy.
Should have mine next week, it's on the truck. Will test it out in the following weekend if the weather cooperates.

It would be interesting to load several rounds with the same loads of IMR4064 and D4064 to compare their relative burn rates. I have lots of IMR4064 if you need any.

Andy!
I trust your load development and judgement with these sort of test much more then my own.
I'll put aside 1lb of this stuff (no charge) for you to play with and post some results for CGN!

I picked up D4198 last year and it worked well in my 223. Will grab some D4064 for my 308. Both are Ruger Scout bolt actions

Got some powder, will load up some 223/308 match loads and test it out this Sunday weather permitting.

Let us know how it shoots. The D4198 has been mediocre in my AR. Satisfactory for 50m and under run-n-gun but not producing very good groups at 100m even with substantial load development. Has been good for high-volume training loads however.

Hitzy, I know the weather in our respective regions has been nasty, but have you or Andy tried out the new D4064 and D4198 powders you recently purchased ?

4064 this Saturday coming...
I have some 308/168gr match loads for a bolt gun, and some 223/68gr loads to be run over the chrony through a 20" AR15.
From all the data I looked at, 4064 is about a 1/2 gr faster then Varget, so we will see how close the D4064 comes in to that.
I'll get some powder over to Andy whenever he's ready to do some max load testing. I think it's going to work good in a lot of different cartridges.

Hitzy, thank you for the update. I am pretty certain that I am not the only gunnut here who is interested in your findings.

Ok so for a reference point, 42.5gr Varget, Lapua Brass, Dominion Primers, 168gr Hornady BTHP shoots one hole groups through my 24" Savage 308. MV is 2625 avg at 15' from the muzzle.
All components same as above, with 41gr D4064---
2557, 2566, 2555, 2562, 2562
42gr D4064
2634, 2641, 2632, 2630, 2631
Both loads shot very well, it's good powder, seems very close to 4064 published data, just a hair quicker. I'll probably never buy varget again as long as this stuff is available.

Hitzy, thank you very much for sharing your test results with all your gunnutz buddies.

split the difference and load 41.5grs, you'll have a great load. Max load would be in the 44gr ballpark
