I currently load 800X in my 28ga for upland .Would the shot column height make a big difference backing off 10 % as suggested with the Dominion powder ? Loading for old style AA and the new HS version.

OK now I see
You cannot back off 10% for shotshells they are normally not brass and require a work up
Pressure is very specific on shotgun loads, or you will get excess pressure, or bloopers, or wads stuck in the barrel causing damage.
And the wad column stack (Powder + wad + shot + internal case volume) must be fairly close to what is called for in the recipe to get the crimp to come out right.
None of those apply to brass case & bullet reloading.
The big question is do they have published data or a recipe for this dominion powder and shotshells
Cheers

Unique is probably the dirtiest powder I've ever shot even after they went to a cleaner formula.Like a mix of snuff, pipe tobacco and straw burnt. 800x is the recommended powder in the Lyman shotgun book as well as others and works just fine .Shot lots of Huns , grouse and pheasant with it this fall. They quit making Win 571 so Longshot may be a cleaner hard hitting powder in the 28ga.Never had a problem with 800x metering as the charge bar looks after that.

Unique was dirty when Jesus roamed the earth not since it was reformulated . How old was the stuff you had
I use it in just about all my 20,16 and 28ga skeet and hunting loads at times two 8 pounders a year and dirty when compared to 800X is not even in the same sentence
To each their own
Cheers
