This one sucks because it hurts. When I shoot my grizzly, the foregrip comes back by itself when it's shot. When I load a new round into the chamber, it locks forward and everything seems fine. Then when I shoot, it releases and hits my finger on that tang below the factory foregrip and gives me a bruise. What could be causing this problem? On my mossberg 590, the grip doesn't slide backwards unless I pull it back to cycle the action after I shoot it. I'm thinking the grizzly might have something wrong with the locking mechanism.

shoot Winchester target loads (grey box steel cased ammo) That stuff jams so good that you have to hit the gun on a rock to get it to cycle sometimes...

Just hold the shotgun like your going into a boxing match pull forward with the hand on the pump and pull backwards with the one on the stock with that even shooting heavy loads it shouldn't hurt I found first time I shot a shotgun it hurt like heck 3 inch slugs. After holding it like that I can shoot allot more ammo before it even starts to hurt..

Just to be clear, the tang is that thing under the forgrip. When I shoot, the bolt and grip come flying back no matter how firm I grab it. Usually whacks me in the fingers pretty good. I don't know..doesn't seem right to me. Other shotguns I own dont release like that when they are shot. If you guys say it's normal, Ill just learn to live with it and maybe try a different foregrip.

Your gun is not working properly. Return it to Canada ammo for repair.

Wrong. An 870 should not open the action until you pump it.

Wrong..... It is designed to disengage the foreend once the hammer is dropped. The recoil of the gun going off pushes the gun rearwards... And the foreend sometimes keeps travelling rearwards if you do not have a firm grip on it, or if you are shooting it one handed. If you dont like how it operates, perhaps the Remington 870 platform is not for you. But that is how the gun functions.

I've shot wingmasters, 870p's, hp9's, DA grizzly's, 870 expresses..... They all operate like that when they have been broken in and lubed well. C'est la vie

Its a shorty... The fore end will hurt your hand during recoil if you are resting that handstop against your index finger without a firm hold on the fore end. Its the grizz's way of telling you she cares.

yea i tell people now when there are shooting my 8.5 not to put there fingers against the "nub" but hold the forgrip just behind it give it a shot i bet your fingers stop hurting,

there also are no aftermarket forgrips (or none ive ever seen) that will fit a 8.5 without modifing it, the last one i did i had to cut it down ream the hole for the mag larger and cut away material to clear the recever, its do able but thought id let you know you arnt gonna find a bolt on replacement
