DA M14 Rear Sights

Howdy fellas (and gals, I suppose), I got to thinking the other day, I am under the impression that the FH on my rifle is crooked. However, I recently noticed that the rear sight aperture appears to be sitting off center in the rear sight base...

Is this normal? It would seem that if the rear sight is offset , then the front would have to be as well to compensate... I'm planning on replacing the rear sights with a CASM mount in the near future anyways, but I was just curious.

I've noticed that on my socom 18 when I tighten up the FH it sits a little crooked as well. I just turn it around to the short position. I've put 70 rds through it so far and I didn't really notice a difference in recoil or accuracy.

Just looked at mine and the rear sight is a bit off to the right just like your pic.

The rear sight on my shorty was like that too. It was quickly replaced with a surplus Garand sight from marstar. Problem solved. These Chinese sights are kinda crappy.
