DA Socom 18 Trigger issue.

Hi all, I have been having an issue with my trigger on my DA socom 18. (Disclaimer new to firearms and terminology may be wrong) Once fired the hammer does not engage with the sear (or what I believe to be the sear, picture and video below) which in turn prevents the hammer from engaging with the trigger preventing a second shot. At the current moment the only way it operates semi properly is with the gas off, so I can cycle the rounds without having the trigger pulled so the hammer can engage the trigger on its own, avoiding the sear.

I have taken the trigger assembly apart, cleaned it and reassembled, which fixed this problem temporarily for around 60 shots. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a trigger group that I had to send back for replacement. the hammer was misaligned with the part that catches the hammer when it's cocked and the friction required to overcome the misalignment of the parts was too much for the normal cycling of the action to over come.
 
pic and vid links aren't workin.
maybe stock fit is wrong. read the info in the stickies on test after assembly. if it fails....... email canam and see what he can do for you?
 
The video seems to work for me, and it looks as if the sear is somehow sticking rearward and not engaging the rear hammer hooks at all. There is something seriously wrong with the trigger/sear assembly, when the trigger is pulled the sear should move forward and reliably catch the hammer. I can't tell from the video exactly what is wrong but whatever you do, don't shoot the rifle with this malfunctioning trigger group again.

I am also surprised that the second (and more) shot doesn't just occur accidentally. It appears that the hammer will follow the bolt forward every time, which should result in unintentional full auto operation and likelihood of an out of battery explosion. If this happens, the rifle could be destroyed and you may be seriously injured. Perhaps the safety bridge in the receiver has impeded the firing pin and slowed the hammer down just enough to prevent disaster, but this is an accident waiting to happen. Get it fixed or replaced and do a function test as per the stickies before shooting this rifle again.

I would consider this trigger group to be unsafe, I'm surprised your not getting double taps or runaway firing strings. With the hammer being able to follow the bolt like that, you risk an out of battery detonation.

Send it back before you wish you had.
 
I have looked at the video again, and it is obvious the sear is sticking. The two forward lugs of the sear should bear in a groove in the center of the rear of the hammer spring housing. The hammer spring pressure tilts the sear forward to catch the rear hammer hooks. If you manually retract the sear, it should snap positively forward by itself when you release it - apparently yours does not.

Check to see the that sear moves freely on the trigger, the trigger assembly is not binding in the rear ears of the hammer spring housing, and the ears glide freely in the trigger group housing. Burrs or roughness here could be the issue, some smoothing could be in order.
It is possible there is some machining problem with the sear or trigger, in which case a replacement would be needed. The hammer spring housing could be at fault, again a problem with machining of the groove in the rear or misalignment. Without a hands on look at your trigger group, these are my best guesses at your issue.

If you are the original purchaser, perhaps the seller will provide warrantee so you will not have to fool with your trigger group. This assembly is critical to the safety of your rifle and you really shouldn't be messing with it unless you know exactly what you are doing.
 
now that I've seen the video, yes, something is seriously not right.
that trigger group is not safe to be in a rifle there's no question
